Big ideas/Key concepts:


From observing a famous painting /exhibit(from the Philadelphia Museum of
Art), students-from prior knowledge-will be able to thinking deep and learn to observe things
when they see the painting. After this exercise they will have a new perspective to go to enjoy
each piece of art. They will share their short story to the class and explain why they want to write
a story like this. I should be able to explain to them the elements of the story and to stimulate
their interest in writing.

Objectives:
Students will learn the animals live in the jungle and the different types of their habit and
their life styles, also identify the sounds they make.

Curriculum Standards:

Standard-E04-A-C.2.1 Demonstrate understanding of craft and structure in literature.

Standard-CC.1.3.4.D Compare and contrast an event to topic told from two different
points of view.
Standard-E04.A-V.4.1 Demonstrate understanding of vocabulary and figurative
language in literature.
Standard-CC.1.4.4.H Introduce the topic and state an opinion on the topic.
Standard-CC.1.4.4.I Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details.

EVIDENCE:

Save the students works in the portfolio, just in case students lost their works.

Rubric and writing draft, for example the first draft students can write 5 sentences then
can write 10 correct sentences, save this in the portfolio too.

During the class time, take some photo for each students and print it out then also save in
students portfolio.(I think this is important to the teacher and the students, because it
reminds everyone what they learn during that class.)

Rationale:
Students should know some kinds of animals and plant but but they do not know much
about the animals and plants that live in the jungle.Therefore, you can use this opportunity to
enable students to learn some new knowledge and common sense.

Differentiation:
I will be allows all students name the animals and plants they know by group competition.
Before that,I will play an animal video, let the students to remember the names of these animals,
it can strengthen their memory, will also improve the child's interest in learning. For special
education students will be copy the words from the word cards and draw picture s if they want to
.

step-by-step Procedure
will ask students listen to the music of a jungle animal, so that all students stand up, according to
the animals sounds they heard, imitate animal movements.Then ask them some questions about
the jungle. Next then, I will ask students sit down and ask them observe The Merry Jesters at
least come up 5 words and 1 question that when they see the painting, also, tell me the feeling
about the painting.

1 Launch :

from youtube.

b. Activate Prior Knowledge: I will ask students named all the animals they know, and
try to imitate the sounds of these animals in the class. In the process of watching the video, I will
let students write down the animals they do not know on paper(this can deepen the impression
of the students)

. Students will begin by watching Video clip in Jungle animal sounds


. Students will write down the names of the animal they do not know on the paper.
. Have students discuss some of the animal they can see in the city.
. Ask students what they think of the words Jungle
. Ask students where they think/know jungle exist
. Ask students to read The Jungle Book: A Pop-Up Adventure by Matthew Reinhert.
.After they read the book and watched the video, ask students to talk to their partner about
whats the different between the city animal and jungle animal.
. Ask students to think is ok to have a jungle animal as a pet to keep it at home? If yes, give
a reason. If not , give a reason.

a. Modeling : I will prepare pictures of jungle animals,Put these pictures on the


blackboard,and each picture is labeled with the name of the animal.With a group
competition in the form of development
b. Guided Practice: I will ask students only listen to the sounds of the animals
then point out the animal.There will be some difficulty, but students should be very
like this way of learning

3. Independent Practice: Students look at pictures to imitate these animal


sounds, and then choose a favorite jungle animal to write a short story, including
whether it can raise the animal at home, explain the reasons.

4. Application: Through the students in the classroom response, you can know,
their learning situation.
5. Closure: Students can ask any question about the jungle animal(ex. what they eat? When
they go to sleep?where do they live?)The more problems students have, the better they learn,
because they are interested in the subject
a. I will especially emphasize why there are glass jars and some of the daily
necessities of human use inside the jungle? Is that right or wrong?
b.If you are an animal living in the jungle, will hope that human beings appear?
If you are human live in the city ,wii hope that animal beings appear?Evolution:

Evalution: I will ask my students to hands their short story in and check to see if they used
the words I teach them and will check if they used enough information form the painting. If not,
then the next class I will have a lesson about vocabulary and sentence structure. Also, I will
check if they do brain storm on their short story.
b. I am also going to use a checklist for completion,participation around the
circle. and understanding.
