Business Profile Paper: 84.51
Not only is the PACE Curriculum an important aspect of the Lindner College of
Business, it is incorporated and utilized throughout hundreds of businesses around the world.
The strong, defining concepts of professionalism, academics, character, and engagement allow
people and businesses to pursue their personal and career goals for which they are passionate
about. This connection with the world around them and their overall success prospers growth and
sustainability throughout ("PACE Curriculum."). One company that practices each of these
elements on a daily basis is 84.51. This company analyzes data and creates an entirely new depth
of understanding for their clients. Their primary focus is to make the lives of people easier.
Therefore, their customer-first attitude works to drive growth and enhance customer loyalty. This
Cincinnati-based business works to brand, market, and research even the smallest elements of
data. With this attitude, PACE directly relates to their business model and overall way of life.
One of the unique aspects of 84.51 is the variety of professions available. These include
communications, human resources, marketing, finance, creative, science, and technology ("Who
We Are). With experienced professionals in all categories, 84.51 is able to expand their
knowledge over a broad range of business functions and truly grasp each component of making
lives easier. In this way, each professional can focus on their passion and strength. This motley
crew contains a wide range of ages, education, and lifestyles. 84.51 also strives to go beyond the
status quo and constantly works to expand their knowledge. Therefore, they participate in
national conferences, such as the ARF West Coast Conference this November. All of these

conferences, meetings, and presentations provide valuable networking experiences for the
growing company. The employees attending these events can then return and share the
information with the rest of the company. This aspect of professionalism is very important for
many businesses, specifically, it expands 84.51 from their small Cincinnati office to the entire
country. Finally, 84.51 offers a variety of co-op, internship, and early career program
opportunities for younger people. Not only do these experiences strengthen the professionalism
of the incoming individuals, it allows 84.51 to learn from them and share their knowledge.
Ongoing education and high quality academics are crucial components to a companys
present and future success. Employees must know the ins and outs of the work they are expected
to complete on a daily basis in order for the company to run smoothly. In todays society,
businesses must innovate constantly to stay on top of the industry and innovation starts with the
employees. 84.51 is a business that fully understands this concept and is taking steps to further
their employees education, even after they are offered a job. Thought leadership is a driving
force behind the motivation for educated employees in this business and the company describes
this concept by saying, at 84.51, our fearless people are informed leaders in the field of
complex data and analytics. We strive to use our expertise to inspire others to move their
innovative ideas forward by continually showcasing the science and thought that goes into
achieving our ultimate goalmaking peoples lives easier (Thought Leadership). Along with
the urge for current employees to strive towards higher education, 84.51 encourages college
students to co-op and intern at their local headquarters. They assign these students, who must
meet an academic standard of a 3.2 GPA first, real working projects that regular employees at the
company would also be working on. This opportunity gives these graduating students workplace

knowledge that is highly sought after in the business world. 84.51 also provides University
Leadership Programs including the Analysis Development Program, Customer Strategy and
Activation Training Program, and Developer Training Program (Early Career Programs).
Co-op and intern rotations, University Leadership Programs, and the workplace mentality that
higher education is a driving force towards personal and company success are all examples of
academics that 84.51 values and strives to progress.
While it is highly important to employ professional and educated individuals into a
companys workplace environment, it is also valuable to produce employees with character.
Employees are the face of the company and they must be able to interact and engage with
customers in a way that represents the business in a positive light. Character goes beyond just
doing the job. 84.51 describes their expectations of character by saying, were rewriting best
practices within a diverse community thats energizing, encouraging, and fun. We take our
business seriously, but not ourselves. We genuinely enjoy ourselves during (and after) work, and
we thrive in an environment where every opinion is valued, contrary thinking is encouraged, and
the focus on the customer never wavers (Who We Are). 84.51s company culture encourages
diverse thinking and positive and fun relationships, while also having a strong focus on their
customers, This mentality allows employees to enjoy coming into work everyday. A happy and
character driven work environment will boost productivity. Social responsibility is also at the
forefront of character. 84.51 displays social responsibility by identifying and voting each year on
which charities they will support. They value serving the community with their Degrees of
Giving and this year they are supporting Freestore Foodbank, Cincinnati Childrens Hospital
Medical Center, Oyler Community Learning Center, Women Helping Women, Save the Animals

Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati, Drop Inn Center, and the
Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati (Who We Are). This benefits 84.51 by having employees
who provide outstanding customer service, a workplace culture that creates employees who can
think creatively and interact effectively, and all around good people that will help form a better
company and world.
Success for a business involves many factors and it is important to not only succeed in
the actual work, but to also remain engaged. For 84.51, balancing work and engagement in the
community is considered to be an integral part of their culture. In fact, on their website they
express that, making life more rewarding for our community and our associates is an essential
part of the process (84.51). They believe that working hard to help the community is not only
an important aspect of their culture, but also a very rewarding experience. As stated above, 84.51
is currently involved with many organizations including Freestore Foodbank, Cincinnati
Childrens Hospital Medical Center, Women Helping Women, and many other unique
organizations. 84.51 demonstrates their active involvement in these organizations through both
financial and public support and it is clear that they truly want to solve the many problems
brought forth. In addition to their commitment to serving the community, 84.51 also values the
importance of helping other companies thrive. In fact, they are heavily involved in assisting
startups. They not only allow these startups twelve months to move into the 84.51 headquarters,
but in addition to that, they provide them mentorship sessions and a positive environment for
them to work in. 84.51 realizes the importance that local companies success has on the
community and works towards making sure that these companies are successful. Despite all that
84.51 does to remain involved, there are areas that they could improve on. For example, while

84.51s involvement in many diverse organizations is not necessarily harmful, it prevents them
from focusing efforts on a select few organizations and really making a significant impact on
specific causes. Overall, 84.51 demonstrates that they value engagement in the community and
that they will continue working towards improving not only their company, but also the issues
society and the community faces.
Through highly professional and experienced employees, a well educated workforce, a
focus on good character, and service to the community, 84.51 exemplifies the four aspects and
values of PACE. 84.51 demonstrates that being well rounded will not harm performance, but
instead bring in even more success. Due to the variety of opportunities and challenges 84.51
chooses to take on, the company is able to be highly successful in each aspect of PACE. With
the already experienced employees and the ongoing opportunities 84.51 provides, the company is
able to sustain a highly professional environment. Not only are their employees experienced, but
they also are educated and encouraged to be innovators, allowing 84.51 to thrive academically.
In addition to the importance of education and professionalism, 84.51 demonstrates that it is also
important that employees have excellent character when representing the company through their
belief that employees with a positive attitude will yield the most success. Finally, 84.51 displays
the importance of not only being successful in their work, but also succeeding in engaging in the
community and making a difference in society. Overall, 84.51 is an excellent example of a
company that lives out the values of PACE. It is clear that following these core values will lead
to a successful, well rounded, and diverse business.
For this project, we divided the work between three individuals. For the paper, Holyn
wrote the introduction, professionalism section, and group roles paragraph. Isabella wrote about

the academics aspect of PACE and the character displayed throughout 84.51. Finally, Paige
wrote about the engagement portion and the conclusion of the paper. For the recorded
presentation, we wrote the presentation, filmed, and edited the video as a group. Our goal was to
split the work evenly, while still allowing each member to write about something of their
interest.
