Biblical Insight

In Genesis 1:2628, God said, Let us make man in our

image. . . . So God created man in His own image . . . male
and female he created them. God blessed them and said to
them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and
subdue it. God chose to give the human family dominion
over the earth. God never intended for Adam and Eve to die.
Read the fifth chapter of Genesis and observe how long people lived at that time.
God brought Eve to Adam that they might have a relationship together on earth that was similar to the
relationship between the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit in heaven. God wanted to use the
love relationship between Him, Adam, and
Eve, and the reproductive capacity He gave
Adam and Eve to create a family on earth that
would expand and fill the earth.

Discuss with the group the type of family you would like;
including when you plan on getting married, the number of
children you plan to have, and the place you would want to
raise your family.

Composition

Search the Bible and find two examples of good marriages and two examples of bad marriages. Write the names of those in the marriage and a brief
description on why you believe the marriage was good or bad.

Evaluation
Are you praying about your marriage now?
Do you think it is important to pray about
your future family now?

Discussion
Discuss the purpose of marriage. Can selfishness have any place in a
Christian marriage?
