INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS
1. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point Times New Roman font
and 1.5 line spacing.
2. You are to submit assignment only in MS-Word format unless specified
otherwise. Please refrain from converting text/phrases into picture
format such as .gif / .jpeg / print screen / etc.
3. Submission Method:
a. Face-to-face student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment online through
myINSPIRE and a hardcopy to your facilitator.
b. Online student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment via myINSPIRE
and another softcopy to the e-facilitator via e-mail.
You can submit your assignment ONCE only in a SINGLE file in
myINSPIRE. You are advised to keep a copy of your submitted
assignment and keep the RECEIPT as evidence of online submission.
4. Your assignment must be submitted on 18th 20th November 2016
(5th Seminar).
5. Your assignment should be prepared individually. You should not copy
another persons assignment. You should also not plagiarise another
persons work as your own.

Synopsis:
This module will explore, examine and investigate the importance of Web 3.0 tools, the third
generation Internet-based services called the intelligent web such as semantic web,
machine learning, machine reasoning, data mining and artificial intelligence. This module will
examine current technological-based instructional tools, strategies for effective instruction
with the tools, and issues related to their applications. The module is divided into three main
sections. The first section covers the fundamentals of technology use in instruction. It
includes a study and discussion in defining and examining the components in the Web 3.0
and Education 3.0 (EDU 3.0). It includes discussion on factors leading to the application of
technology and ICT in instruction, the different types of instructional tools and issues related
to the use of technology in instruction. The second section focuses on the usage of Web 3.0
tools in delivering content to fulfill the requirement of EDU 3.0 which is socially constructed
and contextually reinvented. It also covers the discussion on the use of semantic web,
machine learning and artificial intelligence. The last section explores the possibilities of other
specialised technologies in instruction and their impact in education. Learners are also
required critically review some of the case studies related to the use of instructional media or
tools.

Objective:
1. To provide students with information and knowledge related to the development of eLearning and instructional tools as well as their applications.
2. To guide students in the identification and selection of appropriate instructional tools
for various instructional purposes.
3. To help students develop and align instructional strategies with the selected
instructional tools or media.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Describe the different modes and categories of technological use in instruction.


2. Identify the appropriate instructional tools for specific teaching and learning purpose.
3. Apply the appropriate pedagogical strategies in accordance to the different types of
instructional media or tools in instruction.
4. Critically analyse social and pedagogical issues related to technological applications
in instruction or learning.
5. Synthesise and formulate strategies for organisational implementation of
technologies in education.
