invellled revolutionary idea for musical instruction
and was especially interested in the de,relopmcnt of
communit), singing. In recognition of his achievemcnb

Government or Brazil in 1943 made him Director of

Orfeonico.

musician. E n couraged by hi s father. he learnt to
play cello. guitar. clario.;! and piano. Aher h i s
