Celebration Garden
Uxbridge Historical Centre is beyond thrilled to have been chosen as a winner of a special Celebration Garden for
Canadas 150th birthday in 2017. The Centre has received 1000 red and white tulips to plant in a garden on site, generously donated from Veseys Bulbs Ltd. Only 150 applications were chosen to win a Celebration Garden from across
all of Canada, and we feel very honoured to be one of them.
A special planting ceremony has been arranged for Saturday, October 15th from 10-12pm. Everyone is invited to
come to the Centre and help plant bulbs in the celebration garden.

High School Program

On September 14th, Centre staff hosted 28 students from Mr. Amentas Grade 12 Canadian History class at Uxbridge
Secondary School for a brand new education program. The students came to the museum for the full school day and
had the unique opportunity to learn about the behind-the-scenes of the museum, everything from the budget and
costs of running the museum, to the rarely-seen artifact storage rooms. Museum staff also visited the students classroom on September 29th to deliver a lesson on creating exhibits. Everything the students have learned will culminate
in a special presentation, held at the Centre on October 5th, where the students will showcase special exhibits they
have created using artifacts from the Centres collection. Everyone is invited to view the finished exhibits on Wednesday, October 5th from 6-8pm.
We are happy to have had the opportunity to work with Mr. Amentas class and are looking forward to seeing their
finished exhibits on October 5th.

An Uxbridge Story in Stone - Stone Sculpture Sesquicentennial
Project
This season the Historical Centre is pleased to host an Artist-in-Residence. Local sculptor Fly Freeman has been on site several days a week carving a new

6:30pm.
The Historical Centre is honoured to be hosting Fly Freeman and this project.
We hope you will visit the Historical Centre to see Flys progress and watch this
wonderful tribute to Uxbridges heritage unfold.
Fly will be working on the sculpture until the end of October, dependent on good
weather and warmer temperatures.
