Hanging of the Greens

We will be adorning our church for the Advent season on Wednesday,

November 30 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. All are invited to help hang
wreaths, decorate the Chrismon trees, set out the nativity scene and put
up banners. We will meet briefly in the Reed Room then disperse to do
our festive task. Please come and join in the fun. Questions? Contact
Kimberley Roll by email: rollwell3@gmail.com or phone: 973-6382.

Angel Tree
Make Christmas a memorable day for underprivileged children and
lonely senior citizens! There is an Angel Tree display in the Reed Room,
and this year, we have 40 youth angels and 35 seniors who could use a
little love and encouragement. You may pick up your angel at any time,
but please return all gifts to AUMC no later than Sunday December
11. Gifts for the Salvation Army youths should be unwrapped, and gifts
for the seniors do need to be gift wrapped or gift bagged with the
residents' names securely attached. If you have any questions regarding
the youth gifts, please contact Ann Brown at 434.882.2533; or Pat Daniel
at 434.975.1363 for the senior gifts. Thank you for your generosity to
those less fortunate.

"Come to Bethlehem" Children's Nativity

Sunday, December 11th at 5pm
You're invited to "Come to Bethlehem" this year on Sunday, December
11th. The annual Aldersgate Children's Nativity will be presented at 5pm
and will be followed by a pot-luck for all church-members and friends.
Our children will once again act out the Birth Narrative of our Savior
from Scripture. This year there will be no rehearsals for the children. All
children (and their guardians) should arrive at Aldersgate at 3:30pm to
put on costumes, learn simple lines from Scripture, and practice
traditional Christmas music. Teens and adults from Aldersgate will help
guide them during the Nativity. Following the Nativity, EVERYONE is
welcome to join us for a Christmas Potluck Meal together! You can drop
your items for the potluck off in the fellowship hall before the Nativity. I
look forward to celebrating the Birth of Jesus and all the abilities of the
children in our church and community with you! Soli Deo! - Rachel
Miller, Director of Ministries with Young People, AUMC

Advent Brunch, Sunday, December 4th at 10am

This years annual Advent Brunch is a pot luck and will be held in the Reed
Room. Please bring your dish to have set out by 9:45am (earlier is fine if
attending the 9am service). Dishes will need to be placed directly in the
Reed Room (not in the kitchen) by each family, then taken away at the end
of the pot luck. Coffee, tea and lemonade will be provided. After opening
with a prayer at 10am, we ask that all those who will attend 11am service
go through the line first so that they will not be rushed to get to the 11am
service. Please RSVP on The City so we can prepare appropriate seating.

Vacation Bible School 2017!

Please plan on joining us in early summer 2017 for Maker
Fun Factory Vacation Bible School at Aldersgate UMC!
Together we'll spend a week experiencing a world where
curious kids become hands-on inventors who discover
they're lovingly crafted by God.

NOTE: Please check expiration dates, NO GLASS JARS and NO jumbo size
containers please. Food Collection Bins will be placed in the Welcome
Center and outside the Reed Room. Food will be collected through
November 30.

To the congregation of Aldersgate

Beginning November 12th thru November 19th members of this
congregation participated in the PACEM ministry. This ministry would not
have been successful without many hours of dedicated volunteers. The
caring, giving, and loving spirit of Aldersgate touched the homeless
women of Charlottesville. Each night we fed and sheltered between 8-10
women. The ladies were extremely grateful for the food, hot showers,
laundry service, and the CVS, Subway and McDonalds gift cards. They
were especially thankful that they had a safe warm place to sleep out of
the wind, rain and cold. Thank you to everyone who donated food,
toiletry items, prepared meals, evening helpers, overnight volunteers,
participated in visitation, monetary donations and those doing laundry
for the women. Our set up and tear down teams were great! Most of all,
thank you for your prayers and lifting up this ministry. God has truly
blessed each of us. May God bless this congregation as we continue to
do Christs work.
In His Service,
Deb Reynolds, Nancy Berman and Kathy Morse
