QD PROJECTS FOR THE YEAR 2016-17

1.
Ref to email dt 15 April 2016.
2.
Forwarding the details of projects for financial assistance for various Infrastructure
Development and Welfare Projects.
FOR APS
(a)

Establishment of two computer labs.

The APS Pangode, Trivandrum has established separate junior and senior computer
labs. Due to shortage of rooms in the school, two large sized class rooms are being
utilized to house the computer labs, and the students are accommodated in
reappropriated store rooms which are congested causing discomfort to the students.
Construction of two computer rooms is a necessity for the school. Computer Science and
Informatics Practice are offered at plus two levels and computer is taught to classes I to X
as an additional subject. Requested that Rs.12 Lacs be allotted for the construction of
two additional temporary rooms 26 x 28, with hollow bricks and GI Sheet. So that the
computer labs can be shifted into new premises and the class rooms can be utilized by
the students.
Approximate cost is Rs.12 Lacs.
(b)

Establishment of a 15 KVA Generator (including installation charges).

The APS Trivandrum has been included in the AMWP for 2015-16. However the new
building may not be completely available till academic year 2021-22. There are 27
classes and in addition there are labs, exam rooms library, office , all of which run from a
mixture of temporary, prefabricated and MES buildings. The labs, computer rooms and
office do not have uninterrupted power supply and causes a lot of hardship to teachers
and students during important lessons and during examinations. The school presently
does not have any alternate source of power and the frequent breakdown of power is
hindering the optimum use of TAL facility, Lab and Office work and hence a 15 KVA
Generator is recommended to be procured.
Approximate cost is Rs 3 Lacs.

FOR BAPPS
(a)

Establishment of a 15 KVA Generator (including installation charges).

BAPPS Trivandrum has a student strength of 320 and has 12 class rooms, 1
activity room and an office. Electricity to the school is being provided by MES
Trivandrum. Presently there is continuous load shedding of approx. two hours per
day from MES sources which is likely to continue. Also during rainy season
because of uprooting of trees and other factors, at times there is no electricity in
the school for upto 48 hours at a time. The school has children in the age group of
three to four years and this place experiences hot and humid conditions
throughout the year. As a result, due to lack of electricity backup children do feel
uncomfortable and irritated because of non-functioning of fans as the school does
not have a generator. Therefore, as a welfare measure for the young tiny tots of
BAPPS Trivandrum it is proposed that a 15 KVA generator be provided to ensure
continuous power supply in the school. Approximate cost of the project is 3 lacs.

(b)

Istallatio o 3 computers.
Kindergarten is also a time where we are teaching the children about the
computer as some children have never used it. Kindergarten students have
notoriously short attention spans, but their interest is sparked by technology.
When a teacher involves her students in a smart board program to extend their
understanding of letter sounds she gives them the opportunity to interact
physically, using keyboards and touch screens. A colorful animated screen
captures their attention visually, keeping children interested for longer periods of
time. Choosing their own programs for skill practice makes kindergartners feel
empowered and encourages them to work independently. Hence there it is
proposed that three personal computers be provided to set up a mini computer
lab. Approximate cost is Rs 1,05,000/-.

(c)

Central PA System with Speakers in each classroom.

Due to the heavy rainfall during the monsoon season I Trivandrum it becomes
very diiult to hold morning assemblies ad dispersal of kids from the shed area To
alitate the same i ad rom the lass itsel or the
Songs and rhymes have a hugely positive impact on a childs language and
literacy development. Children love rhyme, rhythm and repetition. These three
things found in songs and rhymes can naturally help to boost a childs language
and literacy skills.
Hence there is a requirement of a Central PA system for making important
announcements, emergency information, playing of pre recorded music and
rhymes, CD's and MP3's during morning assembly, recess and dispersal etc to
distribute the sound at the appointed places like classrooms, corridors,
playgrounds, etc.
