1. Anchor Bolt:
As per the design the jointing method is wielding not nut and bolt, therefore the contractor
must submit wielding rods and wielding employer workmanship certificate for the approval
of the Ministry. (See book VD-MEW-00392-DBO-4.2, Para No 18 Requirements for steel
structures fabrication, installation and Welding works, and Book 6.1 Construc on and
opera on tunnel Page No2 and 4.)
Besides that, the wielding materials must meet the AWS D1.1 Class E6013.
ASTM A 307, covers specification for the chemical and mechanical requirements of three
grades of carbon steel bolts. As per the above reference contractor must provide test
reports for the Grade C and include it in the submittal. Grade C anchor bolts shall be tested
using machined specimens and shall conform to the tensile properties specified in
Specica on A 307. Properties are shown in below Table for information.
23 ( )
5880 (400550)
36 (248)
The tests shall be performed by the material testing lab approved by MEW, besides that the
MEW representatives shall be informed for the observation of the tests.
Besides that, the contractor shall make sample inspections to ensure that the product conforms
to the specified requirements. Additional tests of individual shipments of material are not
ordinarily contemplated. Individual heats of steel are not identified in the finished product.
Refer to ASTM A 307, Number of Tests and Retests
2. I beam:
Contractor must provide Quality certificates for the I Beams and included it in the submittal.
The I Beam and Structural shapes are designed with reference to the ASTM 992 /A 992 M.
The mechanical properties of the submitted product data do not meet the above reference.
(see Page No 6 of the I Beam Submittal).
According to the ASTM 992 /A 992 M I beam mechanical property should be as follow:
Steel grade
A992
Styles
Steel sections
As per the above requirements include the test results for the I Beams as well.
3. Steel Plate:
Contractor must provide Quality certificates for the MS Plate and included it in the
submittal.
Contractor should provide physical Tests reports in accordance with the ASTM A
36/A 36 M requirements. Whereas the Tensile Requirements of the plates shall
meet the above reference as well.
