Lighting is a critical component in a museum environment because in
guiding visitors through their museum or gallery experience; the
moment a visitor sees the exterior facade, the journey has begun.
From creating anticipation on arrival to communicating drama or
contemplation within the exhibition space . The goal of a museum is to
create an interactive experience for the guests, as well as preserve the
condition of artifacts.
It can be used to alter the mood of the exhibition space
It can be used to draw the eye to stunning artwork and sculptures
The subtle play of light and dark can be used to guide the
visitor's journey from
entrance to exit.
Aim
To study role of light in architecture
Objectives
To study the role of light and its psychological impact on humans .
To study various natural & artificial lighting technique used in the
museum and exhibition spaces
To study the lighting standards & design guidelines for Museums
and exhibition spaces.
Methodology
The methodology adopted to conduct this study comprises of:
Literature Study: For the above framed objectives that can help me
in understanding various kinds of museum exhibits their lighting
techniques , exhibits material, technology used in executing it and
studying the present practices and analyzing it.
