Bollywood has been blessed with innumerable real-life couples who exemplify love by setting the
screen on fire with their powerful chemistry.
According to a report in Times Of India: These real-life couples often inspire others with their
fairytale romance and undying love for each other. And as Bollywood completes its 100 years TOI
decided to take a look at the most popular real-life couples of Bollywood.
Nargis- Sunil Dutt: Sunil Dutts courageous and heroic act saved a stranded Nargis as fire broke
out on the sets of Mother India. It not only impressed her and won her heart. Dutts innocence
and gentle style made Nargis comfortable. Though Nargiss on-screen pairing with Raj Kapoor
was a huge hit in Bollywood but it was her caring and loving attitude that left an impression on
Dutt. Finally, Dutt decided to tell Nargis how he felt about her and the couple got married. Their
relationship is like a perfect Hindi film packed with action, romance and drama.
Dilip Kumar-Saira Bano: This real-life couple signifies eternal love and togetherness. Saira, who
was a big fan of Dilip Kumar, fell in love with the superstar when she was just 12. The love story
of the evergreen couple, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, with an age difference of 22 years, is still
going strong. The couple got married in the year 1966, when the gorgeous Saira was only 22 and
Dilip Kumar 45. Despite, going through troubled times the couple have stood like strong pillars of
support for each other through thick and thin.
Hema Malini-Dharmendra: The saying love has no boundaries holds true when one talks about
Dream girl Hema Malini and the He-man of Bollywood Dharmendra. The superstars are said to
have fallen in love on the sets of movie Tum Haseen Main Jawan released in the year 1970. Both
Hema and Dharam were so madly in love with each other that they not only went against the will
of their families, but also converted, for the time being, to get married. We must say that neither
age nor time has affected their love for each other as they are still one of the most romantic
couples of Bollywood.
Jaya-Amitabh: The very amazing Amitabh Bachchan and talented actress Jaya Bhaduris
constant meeting on the sets of BR Isharas Ek Nazar blossomed into love. Later, success of their
1973 film Zanjeer played an important role in forming their bond. Amitabh and Jayas love for
each other only grew with each passing day and they eventually got married. Despite the strong
rumours of an alleged affair with Rekha, both the actors always maintained their dignity in public.
Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh: Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh is one of the most famous couples of
the Bollywood film industry. The audience simply loved Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singhs onscreen chemistry. The sweet and bubbly Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoors pairing became an
instant hit resulting in many blockbusters. Both were deeply in love with each other and
eventually tied the knot in year 1979.
Ajay Devgn-Kajol: They are often tagged as an unlikely pair due to their contrasting
personalities. The couple started dating each other on the sets of Gundaraj and it was Kajols
vivacious and simplicity that impressed Ajay. Ajay Devgan and Kajol got married fourteen years
ago in 1999 in a traditional Maharashtrian style at the Devgn house. Though Ajay has often being
linked to many of his co-stars but the couple never responded to any speculation.

Twinkle-Akshay: They first met on the sets of the film International Khiladi and the love story that
followed is no less than a Bollywood masala film. The world was in for a big surprise, when
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna started courting each other and ;ater tied the knot. There was
speculation galore regarding the longevity of the marriage. Kumar had previously been linked with
his co-stars Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty, that basically stoked the rumour mills. Despite
the rumours, Akshay-Twinkle marriage stands strong.
Abhishek-Aishwarya Bachchan: They are Bollywoods most talked about couple. Both superstars
have gone through failed relationships in the past but leaving everything behind Aishwarya
married Abhishek on April 20, 2007. It is said that Abhishek proposed Aishwarya after the
premiere of Guru in Toronto and the actress accepted his proposal without a second thought.
Though there have been rumours regarding their tiffs, the couple seems very much love, more
after the birth of their daughter, Aradhya.
Riteish- Genelia Deshmukh: Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia DSouza kept their relationship very
private. The couple, who debuted in Bollywood with their film Tujhe Meri Kasam, have been
dating each other since 2003. After about ten years of friendship and togetherness, Riteish and
Genelia took the nuptial vows on 3rd February, 2012.
Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor: During the making of Tashan in 2007 Saif-Kareena fell in love with
each other and though the film failed at box-office it still remains Saifs favorite as it brought lady
love Kareena aka Bebo into his life. After dating each other for 5 years, Saifeena as they are
fondly called by the media, decided to take the plunge in 2012. They had a register marriage on
October 16 2012. The couples undying love and near-perfect compatibility, at various events and
functions is quite noticeable.

The angry young man of Bollywood Amitabh, and the demure Jaya fell in love amid the shooting
locations of Zanjeer and got married soon after the release of the film. They tied the knot on June
3rd, 1973, in a quiet ceremony in Mumbai. Prior to their marriage, Jaya starred opposite Amitabh
in Guddi and Zanjeer; while post marriage, she shared screen space with him in hit films such as
Silsila, Abhimaan and Mili. However, Jaya soon took a sabbatical from her career, instead
choosing to focus on looking after her household and kids. She only returned in 2001 to star
opposite her husband in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, making it their last venture till date. This
charismatic couple has two children, actor Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Shweta Nanda.
Dilip Kumar And Saira Banu

Known as the tragedy king, Dilip Kumar married the petite and beautiful, Saira Banu, at the age of

dream came true in 1966, when the duo were joined in happy matrimony. The couple starred in
various films together such as Gopi, Sagina and Bajrang. However, Saira soon took a break from
movies and gave time to her marriage as problems started arising in between the couple.
However, once things settled down and fell into place, she yet again shared screen space with
her husband, in ironically their last film together, Duniya.
Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt
Their first film together showed them as a mother-son duo in the epic movie Mother India, but
who knew that during this movie, love would bloom between the two stars! During the making of
this film, a fire scene went out of hand and ending up becoming an accident in which Dutt braved
the raging fire to save Nargis, and with that winning her love as well! The much in love couple tied
the knot on March 11, 1958 which resulted in Nargis choosing to leave the film industry. However,
she did make certain appearances in the 60's in various movies. The two have three children,
Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt. The blissfully happy couple eventually had tragedy
strike in their life when Nargis got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died a few days before
her son Sanjay's debut film hit the screens.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini
The He-Man of Bollywood married the dream girl Hema Malini, even though he was already
married and had four kids, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeeta Deol and Ajeeta Deol, with his first
wife. If sources are to be believed, they fell in love on the sets of the super hit film Sholay. He
proposed and married Hema while he was still married to his first wife Prakash Kaur and went on
to maintain two relationships after converting to Islam, thereby allowing him to keep both
marriages. The couple starred in many films with Sholay being their highest commercial success.
Their other films include, Raja Jani, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sharafat, Tum Haseen Main Jawaan,
Jugnu, Dost, Charas, Maa, Chacha Bhatija, Azaad, Sholay and The Burning Train. The two have
two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

true examples of togetherness and unconditional love. We hope you enjoyed reading this half of
