INTRODUCTION
Importance of Poultry
Newcastle disease (ND) is a severe poultry disease of high prevalence and great economic importance in
India. It is caused by avian paramyxovirus serotype1 (APMV-1). Newcastle Disease is a single greatest constraint
on the production of village poultry. This paper attempts to analyses publication in the field of Newcastle research
as indexed in CAB Direct Online database covering the period from 1951 to 2015.
Objectives of the Study
The main objective of this study is to analyze the research output in New Castle disease research, as
reflected in CAB Direct Online database. In particular, the study focuses on the following objectives:
To study the total number of publications output on New Castle Disease Research based on CAB Direct
Online database for the period from 1951 - 2015.
To study the top 20 prolific authors in the field of New Castle research.
To study the top 20 journals publishing more research papers on New Castle research.

CONCLUSIONS
The scientometric study on New castle research based on CAB Direct Online database reveals that USA is the
major producer of scientific research output with 146 publications which is around 13.67% of the global research output on
New castle research. The other interesting fact is that the most prolific author in this field is Castle, L with 36 papers
(3.37%). The study revealed that English is the most predominant language used by the scientists for communication of
New castle research with 987 papers (92.42%) is vital.
