News Staff Corner:
Halloween has passed and now we need to get ready for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. Pay close attention to the
calendar and schedule of upcoming events. UPDATE newsletter ad payments have been coming in, if you have not
responded to the renewal letter, please do so as soon as possible so that we can fill all the ad spaces and keep the LAC
Newsletter self-supporting. We still are looking for some member input, whether it be comments or personal experiences
such as trips or vacations or whatever, we need your participation.
Kudos to Ghassan and Betty Najm, Tom Saadi, as well as all members of the committee for the fantastic job they did for the
Persons of the Year Event. This event is a tribute not only to the Honorees but to the Lebanon American Club for showcasing
our Lebanese brothers and sisters with such a classy and dignified event. Again, thank you all you make us proud to be part
of the Lebanon American Club.
With the Presidential Election a few days away dont forget to come to the Spaghetti Dinner at the club to celebrate your
candidates win or to cry in your pasta for your candidates loss. Remember, Chef Scalzo and Frankie donate all their time
and effort to put on this monthly dinner so that all proceeds are used for our Clubs kitchen improvement. Please support their
efforts. One last reminder elections for officers and board members are coming up soon, if you are interested in any of the
elected positions please see any current officer or board member. Keep in mind it is your club so GET INVOLVED!!.
Thoughts to Live By:
Those of us who shout the loudest about Americanism are all too frequently those who ignore some of the basic
principles of Americanism the right to criticize, the right to hold unpopular beliefs, the right to protest, the right of
independent thought. Margaret Chase Smith, U.S. Senator. (Dec. 14, 1897-May 29, 1995.).
A Little Humor:
Love is like a card trick. After you know how it works, its no fun anymore. Fanny Brice (1891-1951)
If opportunity doesnt knock, build a door. Milton Berle, American comedian. (1908-2002).
Member News:
A special thanks goes out to Tony Abramo for his generous donation towards the cost of the brand new fryalator recently
purchased for our clubs kitchen. For those members who are not aware our new roof has been installed and finished. Thanks
to all those members who generously donated to the roof project, without your generosity this project could not have been
done in such a timely manner. As many of you know our building is far from being in good shape, the painting of all the
wooden trim work needs to be done as well as the replacement of some rotted wood on the exterior of the building. More
news of these future projects is upcoming.
The Annual Club Christmas Party is scheduled for Sat. Dec. 10th; please mark your calendars so that you wont miss this
great event. Two Steps is catering again this year and our own Dan Mulvihill is going to be our DJ for the evening and dont
forget the great raffle prizes that will be available.
Congratulations to the 2016 Persons Of the Year Honorees and their Families
