Day one: (9th of October 2016)

Meeting the principal and my MST, and describe the


teaching context.
Today is my first day at Mariam school. We had a meeting with
the principal and the vice principal. Everything about our duty in
the school has been discussed in details. They have been
informed that we are going to teach every day, and we should
focus on teaching Mathematics subject. After the meeting, we had
another meeting with our teachers.
I met my MST T. Farrah (Math and science teacher), and T. Asma
(English teacher). Before I met grade two students, I discussed
with my MST about the teaching practice and what I need to do. I
get my schedule and attend the first period. What makes me feel
pleasure, that the students loved me and feel comfortable when
they talk to me. I spend my first day, observing the students and
try to discover their ability to help me in teaching later. After
meeting the teacher, I noticed that in contrast of the private
school, the English teachers are sperated than the science and
mathematics teacher. Adding to that, at this school they apply the
flying classes, where the students should move from class to
class, not the teachers.

Day two: (10th of October 2016)

Using the math Manipulatives.

I observed the Math lessons, and take photos about the


manipulative that the teacher use to teach the lessons. She had

various and useful materials such as, cubes, counters, dice, base
ten blocks, etc.. I observed a different class with my colleague to
see the differences in using the manipulatives. I noticed that in
grade four, the teacher doesnt have math materials as much as
my MST has. I wanted to know the reason so, I asked the grade
four teacher, she told me that , because of the new curriculum
sometimes they dont have time to apply activities to the
students. And they need to finish what they are asked for. My
MST, agree to what the teacher said, and she informs me that,
she tired as much as she can to present and apply activities
during the lesson. However, the way of teaching is essential for
students to learn. My MST had the ability to convey the concepts
to students.

Day three: (11th of October 2016)

Stay with the students without the teacher.


Today I asked to stay with the students for around ten to fifteen
minutes. Its the first time I stay with them without the teacher, I
didnt expect that, but I achieved in controlling them and keep
them quiet. I felt proud of myself, because, being able to control
the students behavior is what the good teacher can do, it will
help me either in the future. In addition, I give them practice on
the addition skills to help them understand the lesson more.
While I'm observing and evaluate the students answering the
questions, I noticed that I achieved in facilitating the concept to
the students.

Day four: (12 of October 2016)

Observing the students behavior.


I discussed with my MST about what Im going to teach next
week, and which lessons. We shared our ideas together, and
she helped me in some points. However, I assess the students
level and observe their ability, during the observation, I noticed
one girl staring at her friends book and trying to copy what her
friends answer. On my evaluation sheet, I was noting this girl
in the middle level, while in fact she is on low level. Thats was
a negative action from me. I should assess her as I did for the
rest of the students while she is answering not from what she
solve on her book, because, that doesnt show me her level on
understanding the lesson. I decide to have an evaluation sheet
to observe the students behavior in general and know their
personality, that will help me later in dealing with them.
