CCM - Michigan Prisoner Re-entry

1. WHAT. State their basic understanding of the mission, Vision, Goals and Focus of Michigan
Prisoner Reentry.
Mission: Seamless system of assessment, programming, planning, and management from
intake to prison to transition back into the community.
Vision: Effective way to promote offender change, accomplished by engaging all partners in
process that holds offenders accountable for their behavior and increases offender success.
Goal: safe and secure facilities, motivate offender to challenge and change their behavior, use
more effective interventions, encourage personal accountability.
2. WHY. Identify reasons why an effective system of Michigan Prisoner Reentry benefits citizens
and communities of our state.
CCM is an evidence-based practice. Reduces recidivism, crime, and cost of states prison
system.
3. Identify WHO is involved in the Prisoner Reentry process.
Department of Corrections, Community, and Offenders.
4. Describe the Michigan Prisoner Reentry model and illustrate WHERE and WHEN specific
steps take place.
Phase 1 - Getting ready: institutional phase.
Phase 2 - Going home: transition to the community.
Phase 3 - Staying home: community and discharge phase
5. State the vision, mission, and definition of Collaborative Case Management.
COMPAS = Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions: assesses
risk and need criminal involvement, associates, attitudes, personality, and opportunity.
6. WHAT IS MY ROLE? State the role of a Corrections Officer in Michigan Prisoner process and
the skill sets they must possess to be most effective in doing so.
Two Priorities: Order, and Behavior change
