CONCRETE MIX DESIGN

CRITERIA:
To design concrete mix of M25, having Slump of 60-90mm, taking moderate
environmental condition.
From the test
Sieve analysis:
o Coarse Aggregates retained above 20 mm sieve36.2%
o Coarse Aggregates passing from 20 mm sieve63.8%
o Fine Aggregate zoningZone 2
Water absorption:
o Kapchi:
1.01%
o Grit:
2.04%
o Fine aggregates:
3.09%
Apparent Specific gravity:
o Kapchi:
2.92
o Grit:
2.92
o Fine aggregates:
2.53

TARGET STRENGTH:
Ft=Fck + (ks)

Here mean characteristic Strength

Standard Deviation as per
IS 456 Table no. 6 for M25 grade
Constant

Fck=25N/mm2
s=4.0
k=1.65

Ft = 25 + (1.654.0)
= 31.6 N/mm2

Assuming Coarse aggregates as Crushed aggregates

And assuming Fine Aggregates as Uncrushed Aggregates
Table 1 Water Content

From table 1:

Water required by aggregates passing from 20 mm

W20-4.75=2/3(Wf) + 1/3 (Wc)
o Wf = Water consumed by Fine Aggregates
o Wc = Water consumed by Coarse Aggregates
=2/3(195) + 1/3(225)
=130 + 75
W20-4.75=205 kg/m3
