Setting up your Illuminate Ed Gradebook

1. Select the GRADEBOOK tab (in grey). Choose MY GRADEBOOKS.

Choose CREATE A NEW GRADEBOOK (in blue).

Name the gradebook, and then choose the correct SECTION and STUDENT
GROUPS. Hit SAVE. (You have to create each class or use the duplicator feature).
4. Now select SETUP (blue) from the drop down tab, then CATEGORIES.
5. Enter the terms of your categories (name, weight, and icon). You only have to do this
once: Also save this to the rest of your gradebooks that use these same category
weights.
*Icons take the place of color-coding the categories.
6. Next set up your grading scale by clicking SETUP, then GRADING SCALES. You can
also save this to all gradebooks.
*Assignment scores will be color-coded as well.
7. Finally, click SETUP,then PREFERENCES.
Calculations: Calculate blank scores as (Not zero and not missing)
Other: Spreadsheet View Default Entry Mode (Percentage, Score, or Points)
Spreadsheet view Default Columns per Page
8. Under SETUP, you may click STUDENT ALIASES:
You may then enter different names to appear in your gradebook for those
students who go by a different name. You will want to enter an alias as last
name, first name so it alphabetizes correctly.

Adding an Assignment
1. Select the GRADEBOOK tab (in grey). Choose MY GRADEBOOKS. Choose the
gradebook you will be adding assignments to.

2. Select ASSIGNMENTS (blue), then ADD ASSIGNMENT.


Fill in the name, category, points possible, and due date.
The assignment will not show up in Parent Portal until this due date.
Also save this to other gradebooks if you wish.
Click SAVE.
(Deleting is tricky. Choose ASSIGNMENTS, then MANAGE ASSIGNMENTS. Select the
microscopic check box on the right, then change the drop down that reads LINK
ASSIGNMENTS TO STANDARDS to DELETE.)

Editing an Assignment and Viewing Gradebook


1. Select the GRADEBOOK tab (in grey). Choose MY GRADEBOOKS. Choose the
gradebook you will be working with.
2. Hover over the assignment you would like to edit and click EDIT.
Remember to click SAVE after changes.
3. Toggle between gradebooks by clicking GRADEBOOKS (blue) and clicking on the
gradebook you would like to view.
4. To change how you view your gradebooks, click VIEW (blue):
Spreadsheet is default; you can enter grades directly into spreadsheet.
Assignment List allows you to work with entering one assignment at a time.
Student List allows you to view individual students assignments and scores.

Viewing Reports within Gradebook


1. Click the gradebook you will be working with (GRADEBOOK, MY GRADEBOOKS).
2. Click REPORTS (Blue) in upper horizontal tab.
3. BLANK SCORESHEET is a spreadsheet to record grades via paper and pencil.
4. PROGRESS REPORT is to print out individualized grade reports for as many
students
as you wish.
VIEWING REPORTS CONTINUES ON NEXT PAGE
A. Choose the student group you would like to print.
B. Choose the students names in dropdown menu IF you do not want to print
reports for every student
C. Click the gradebook you would like to print.
D. Grade filters allow you to print for students who fall below a specified

percentage.
E. If you want to print a general progress report, click grades to include ALL.
F. Make sure the Grading Period is set to the correct quarter.
G. Display options:
Overall score, assignment summary, and category summary are all
important to check.
5. CLASS GRADE REPORT is a final grade (by percentage and points) for every
student
on one page (for your records).
6. To print out your spreadsheet of every grade for every student in the class, view that
gradebook, right click, and print.
*to print out your spreadsheet without displaying the students names, click
VIEW
(blue). Click SPREADSHEET (excel).
Highlight column with students names and delete entire column. Print.

Enter an Assessment into Illuminate


(As a test you have already created)
1. Click ASSESSMENTS (grey), then CREATE A NEW ASSESSMENT.
2. Click MANUAL SETUP and enter how many questions are on the test.
3. Name your assessment and click save.
4. Click OVERVIEW (blue).
5. Click PRINT ANSWER SHEETS PRE-SLUGGED (toward bottom of left-hand
choices)
Choose the student group (gradebook) you would like to print and print.
6. Return to Assessment, and click on PRINT ANSWER SHEET BLANK.
Use this blank answer sheet as your key; enter the correct answers.
7. Return to Assessment and click QUESTIONS (blue) and SCAN.
Scan your answer sheet with the GradeCam.
8. Click RESPONSES (blue) and SCAN. Scan student bubble sheets.
9. Save and View Results.

Pushing an Assessment into your Gradebook


1. If you are not already within the Assessment Overview you would like to push to
gradebook, click ASSESSMENTS (white), then LIST ASSESSMENTS.
2. Locate the assessment you would like to push.

*TIP: un-highlight any blue selections at the top and enter your assessment
name
into the search bar.
3. Click on the assessment, click on RESPONSES (blue), and LINK TO GRADEBOOK.
4. Enter the correct gradebook and other criteria, and click SUBMIT.
5. Enter a SHORT NAME if you would like the grade listed as something other than the
name you gave the assessment. Click CREATE AND LINK ASSIGNMENTS.

Gradebook Tips and Tricks


1. In your gradebook, click SETUP (blue), then CUSTOM MARKS. Here you can enter
x or z (or other marks you choose) to mean excused or missing, etc.
2. In your gradebook, click OTHER (blue), then PORTAL ANNOUNCEMENTS. ADD AN
ANNOUNCEMENT to the classes you select. This announcement will show up in the
student and parent portals.
3. Under FILTER, student filter can help you find a student who left your class.
