Module 1

1. Explain concept of temperature measurement and equality of temperature

(zeroth law of thermodynamics)?
2. The temperature t on a thermometric scale is defined in terms of property K by the relation,

t = a*ln (K) + b
Where a and b are constants. The value K is found to be 1.83 and 6.78 at the ice point and steam
point, temperature of which are assigned the numbers 0 and 100 respectively. Determine the
temperature corresponding to a reading of K equal to 2.42 on thermometer.
3. What do you understand by ideal gas temperature scale?
4. Explain two approaches used in the study of thermodynamics?
5. Differentiate heat transfer and work transfer
6. Define thermocouple.
7. Explain the term thermometry?
8. Explain p-v diagram (indicator diagram) for a pdv work
9. Explain different types of work transfers?
10. What you mean by free expansion work.
