1. SUMMARY/SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE

After struggling with depression in a mental hospital, Hunter "Patch" Adams (Robin Williams) decides he wants to
become a doctor. He enrolls at Virginia Medical University but is disillusioned by the school's clinical perspective on
patient care. With the aid of a wealthy friend, Adams opens his own medical clinic for those without insurance. He forms
a deep bond with fellow medical student Carin Fisher (Monica Potter) before a tragedy causes Adams to re-evaluate his
approach.

2. Key characters with description of behaviour:

A. Patch Adams- is person who wants to help people in need specially by providing health
care. He has his own way of providing health care. He provides it not by just simply doing
procedures but also by making his patients health care experience enjoyable. He does this
by making his patients laugh and entertained, and teaching them how to be more positive
in life. He is an optimist person and a very good physician.
B. Carin- She was Patchs girlfriend, she was also studying medicine, she said that she hated
medicine but when he met Patch she changed her mind and started falling in love with her
profession. Unfortunately she died because she went to a wrong patient.
C. Dr. Truman- Patchs good friend, like Patch he also wants to help people in need and he is
always there to assist or help Patch, he was one of the people who told Patch never to give
up on helping people when his girlfriend died. Just like Patch he is an optimist too.
D. Dr. Mitch- Patchs schoolmate in medicine school, I described him as a frustrated student
because it was not his choice to be in med school he was just pressured because his dad
and grandfather was a doctor. He always wanted to learn and study about medicine but he
realized learning many things are not enough to be a good doctor you need to be effective
by being therapeutic or showing appropriate therapeutic technique to the patients.
E. Dean Wallcot- He is Patchs mentor, who always get mad at Patch because he believed
that hes actions are not appropriate for a doctor.

3. Describe the main character of the movie.

Dr. Patch Adams is person who wants to help people in need specially by providing health

4. Learning insights.

What I learned from this movie is that I should not just be someone who is full of knowledge but
someone who uses his experience in order to become effective in his field. And to relate it to my
chosen profession I can say that in order to become a successful nurse in the future a student
nurse like me shouldnt just become excellent in the classroom but most especially in the area
wherein I can gain actual experiences that I could use in order to become an effective and
successful nurse in the future.
