Math
Big Idea: The children will be using
number bonds to show the parts and
whole for a given number.
New Vocabulary
Part: one of two or more smaller units
that make up a whole
Whole: a complete unit
Number bond: a number relationship
between parts and whole
We will continue our work with
number bonds using cubes and math
balances to find number bonds with 3
parts.
Students will be introduced to the
associative property. Ex. (2+3)+4 is
the same as 2+(3+4)
Students will apply this property to
number bonds- the parts in a number
bond can be grouped in different
ways.
Thinking Cap Day
Students will use cups, beads to figure
out the missing part by using the part
that can be seen.
Thinking skills:
Analyzing parts and whole
Deduction
Problem-Solving Strategies
Act it out
Guess and check
