IWRM VIETNAM

LUCCI

eE+E is making contributions to avoid or reduce environmental

impacts caused by human activities in the fields of environment,
groundwater, surface water and ecology. eE+E is raising
awareness for environmental risks and points out connections
and contradictions between constructions and the environment.
Our research focus concentrates on dynamic systems formed by
human activities and the environment:

Integrated Water Resources Management for three

provinces: Nam Dinh (Red River part basin), Lam
Dong (Upper Dong Nai river basin) and City Can
Tho (Cuu Long part basin): development of Planning- and Decision Support Tools for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and development of a GIS-database.
Sponsored by the Federal German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Project coordination: eE+E

Land Use and Climate Change interactions

in the Vu Gia Thu Bon River Basin, Central
Vietnam: Multi-temporal, historic analyses of land use and
water infrastructure, in particular the coastal areas with regard
to saltwater intrusion and flooding. Development of adaption
strategies for climate change related changes of the water
balance and its impacts on the land use. Sponsored by the
Federal German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Project coordination: Institute for Technology- and Resources
Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT), Cologne
University of Applied Sciences

Human affected ecosystems, forecast of environmental

effects
Mathematical models (substance flow models,
groundwater models, surface water models, etc.)
Environmental planning based on Geographic Information
Systems (GIS)
Landfill sites: site scouting, site examination, site
assessment, site strengthening
Groundwater and ecology: hydrology of wetlands
Environmental monitoring (surface water, groundwater,
ecology, etc.)
Satellite image analysis
Environmental planning: integrated landuse and water
resources management
Groundwater management in urban and rural areas
Environmental impacts and risks of constructions
(buildings, harbours, shore protection)
Life cycle assessments of buildings, products, etc.

eE+E is active in Vietnam since the year 2000 in several projects

of water and waste management, water supply, environmental
impact studies, etc.

RAME
Research Association Mining and Environment
Vietnam, Provinz Quang Ninh, Vietnam: Development and adaption of environmental concepts for the hard cole mining industry in Vietnam: implementation of environmental management concepts with regard to the
stabilization and recultivation of waste rock dump sites, water management in mining areas, dust monitoring and mitigation, development of an environmental management- and information
system. Sponsored by the Federal German Ministry of Education
and Research (BMBF). Project coordination: eE+E

WATER OFFICE
German-Vietnamese coordination office for waterand environmental technology, Hanoi. Support of
the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology
(MoST) and the Federal German Ministry of Education and
Research (BMBF) in coordinating international projects with
regard to water- and environmental technologies. Sponsored by
the Federal German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
and the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).

WAKLIM
Modification of waterborne pathogens in
the drinking water supply in North Rhine-Westphalia under the influence of climate change: Analyses of correlations between the occurrence of waterborne pathogens in drinking water and the influence of climate change
in selected areas. Development of adaption measures for the
drinking water supply and treatment. Sponsored by the North
Rhine-Westphalia State Agency for Nature, Environment and
Consumer Protection (LANUV NRW). Project coordination:
Institute for Water Research (IfW), Schwerte
