I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of: pre-colonial Philippine
literature as a means of connecting to the past; various reading styles; ways
of determining word meaning; the sounds of English and the prosodic
features of speech; and correct subject-verb agreement.
B. Performance Standards
The learner transfers learning by: showing appreciation for the
literature of the past; comprehending texts using appropriate reading styles;
participating in conversations using appropriate context-dependent
expressions; producing English sounds correctly and using the prosodic
features of speech effectively in various situations; and observing correct
subject-verb agreement.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives
1. familiarize themselves with the rules involving with the Subject verb
Agreement.
2. choose the correct form of the verb to make it agree with the
subject.
3. Write a short composition observing Subject - Verb Agreement
rules.

be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and

II. CONTENT
Subject-verb agreement
Rules:
1. if subject are joined by and, they are considered plural.
2. nouns plural in form but singular in meaning such as, economics,
mathematics, mumps, physics, news, tec. requires a singular verb.
3. Two singular subjects connected by or, either/or, or neither/nor require
singular verb.
IV. PROCEDURES
A. motivation
Good morning class
the teacher is going to post pictures of a baby and puppies on the left side
of the board. on the right side of the board, pictures of a bone and a bottle of
milk will be posted. the picture of the left side (baby and puppies) will be the
consumer's and picture on the right side( bone and bottle of milk) will be the
consumer proper consumer's food.
the students are expected to identify the proper food for the puppies
which is the bone and baby which is the milk.

B. Establishing a Purpose
like the need of the baby and the puppies of proper food, language
particularly the subject and verb must agree with one another. this is for the
purpose of clear and better communication. today we will be discussing
about subject- verb agreement and we will be learning some of the rules to
make our verb agree with our subjects.

G. Practical Applications/IFVL
In 1 Corinthians 1:10 says, I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what
you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly
united in mind and thought.
The teacher ask the students to form a group, and they will participate
as a group by doing puzzle.
H. Generalizations/Abstractions
So again class if the subject is singular the verb take singular, plural
subject take plural verb.
if subject are joined by or or nor the verb should agree with the closer
subject.
expressions stating amount of time, money, weight, volume are plural in
form but take a singular verb.

I. Evaluating learning
So this time we will have an activity, i brought here some bond paper
and i already put here the verb that you are going to choose, choose only the
verb if it is agree with the subject.

2. Melai and Mitch (is, are) both actresses in a theater.
3. All of us (was, were) ready to leave at five oclock.
4. Either Ester or her cousins (is, are) mistaken.
