WWPN/pWWN Pools

Task
Create WWPN Pools in the CUST1 and CUST2 orgs as follows:
CUST1 org should be provisioned with two ranges for Fabric A and B.
Fabric A pool should be named CUST1-WWPN-FabA and should consist of a range that
is 20:AA:00:25:B5:01:00:00 - 20:AA:00:25:B5:01:00:1F.
Fabric B pool should be named CUST1-WWPN-FabB and should consist of a range that
is 20:BB:00:25:B5:01:00:00 - 20:BB:00:25:B5:01:00:1F.
CUST2 org should provisioned with two ranges for Fabric A and B.
Fabric A pool should be named CUST2-WWPN-FabA and should consist of a range that
is 20:AA:00:25:B5:02:00:00 - 20:AA:00:25:B5:02:00:1F.
Fabric B pool should be named CUST2-WWPN-FabB and should consist of a range that
is 20:BB:00:25:B5:02:00:00 - 20:BB:00:25:B5:02:00:1F.

Configuration
In the left navigation pane, click the SAN tab and navigate to SAN >> Pools >> SubOrganizations >> CUST1. Right-click WWPN Pools and click Create WWPN Pool.

FEEDBACK

Enter the pool name CUST1-WWPN-FabA and click Next.

Click Add.

Enter the first WWPN, taking care to be precise. Enter the size of 32 and click OK.

Click Finish.

Click OK.

Again, under SAN >> Pools >> Sub-Organizations >> CUST1, right-click WWPN Pools and
click Create WWPN Pool.

Enter the pool name CUST1-WWPN-FabB and click Next.

Click Add.

Enter the first WWPN, taking care to be precise. Enter the size of 32 and click OK.

Click Finish.

Click OK.

Under SAN >> Pools >> Sub-Organizations >> CUST2, right-click WWPN Pools and click
Create WWPN Pool.

Enter the pool name CUST2-WWPN-FabA and click Next.

Click Add.

Enter the first WWPN, taking care to be precise. Enter the size of 32 and click OK.

Click Finish.

Click OK.

Again, under SAN >> Pools >> Sub-Organizations >> CUST2, right-click WWPN Pools and
click Create WWPN Pool.

Enter the pool name CUST2-WWPN-FabB and click Next.

Click Add.

Enter the first WWPN, taking care to be precise. Enter the size of 32 and click OK.

Click Finish.

Click OK.

Verification
Back in the UCSM, you should see both orgs containing pools for each Fabric.

Note:
When we get to tasks involving boot-from-SAN, and so that you do not have to log
in to the actual SAN Array and change the pWWN initiator every time (because of
the dynamic nature of pWWN allocation in UCS v2.0), we will not actually be
using these pools, although we will still use the nWWN pool. It was still important
for you to create these pools and see where they can be accessed when you get
to Service Profiles (for example, CUST1 pools from CUST1 Service Profiles,
CUST2 pools from CUST2 Service Profiles) to understand them.
