Listening to People
We are planning for our
North West Regional
Conference in February
2017.
Over 200 people with
learning disabilities from the
North West of England will
come together over 3 days to
work with Health and Social
Care paid staff and family
members to coproduce local
and regional plans for the
future.
At the conference delegates
will vote for Regional Reps
to work on the North West
Transforming Care Confirm
and Challenge Groups:And
the Being Healthy Staying
Safe and Living Well Groups
which will help ensure there
is good co-oproduction
across the North West
Region.

We continue to hold 4
Regional Forums each year
open to all Minutes are
posted on the Pathways and
National Form website

We will be supporting our

New Regional Rep Jenny
Carter from the Wirral to
attend the National Forum
for the first time in October
2017 .
Mark Shackelton is still
getting out and about to
local groups to hear their
views and speak about the
big issues locally Regionally
and Nationally.

We continue to use Social

Media to connect to people
who cannot come to our
meetings.

We continue to provide
training and support for selfadvocates to develop.
Experts by Experience
skills in the region- so we
can hear from Experts who
visit services of people with
multiple disabilities and
challenging behaviour-and
by doing so find out about
the big issues of people
whose voices arent always
heard.

We have increased the

number of Experts by
Experience training 12
Self -Advocacy Experts by
Experience .To take part in
Clinical Treatment
Reviews.
Working together with the
North West Regional Family
Forum Experts by
Experience in the North
West has taken part in over
100 Clinical Treatment
Reviews during the past 6
months
This allows us to hear from
Experts who visit services of
people with multiple
disabilities and
challenging behaviour-and
by doing so find out about
the big issues of people
whose voices arent always
heard.And make
recommendations to
commissioners and
providers about making the
quality of lives better
We have developed and
Expert Hub and Manager
Post which/who coordinate The Self Advocay

2 Expert by Experience with

Learning Disabilities with a
team 4 family members and
Clinical Advisors have taken
part in a National Health
Service England Quality of
Life Framework
Development Project in the
North West .To see what life
was like for people who had
moved from Hospital into the
community.
They found that The Six
Peoples lives who we visited
had improved but could
improve more with more
person centred planning and
Circles of support.

We have planned a five day

self advocacy training
programme to develop the
skills of more self advocate
skills. Which begins in
November 2016

Working with North West

Regional Family Forum
members we are working
with families on the 3 Sub
Regional Transforming Care
Partnerships in the North
West for NHS England to
support Co-production and
can feed into local regional

and National Structures

Family members will be
attending the last day of the
North West Conference
when we work with
commissioners on the
Regions big issues.

Being Safe: We are

developing a lot of Safety in
Town projects in the
Lancashire there are now
over 40 places for people to
go in town to report Hate
Crime and feel safe.

We are working with the

Police with our Saftey in
Town Projects and other
initiatives. Including victim
support. And there is
agreement from the North
West Confirm and Challenge
Board that we will roll out this
work across the North West,

Pathways are supporting

Experts to attend training for
the MORTALITY Review
Steering Groups in the North
West which will look at
unexplained deaths.
Pathways will be offering
support to make this happen
