PRONOUNS

1 ~~rNC)~rl~

Kannada distinguishes three genders, masculine, feminine and neuter. As a

rule, they are, "natural" genders. That means, words denoting male or female
human beings are masculine and feminine, while animals and non living things
are neuter.
Kannada pronouns also distinguish between remote and proximate, i.e.
whether the person they refer to is further away or closed by.
The second person plural is also used in addressing someone politely. The
third person plural is also used to refer to someone would address politely.
