1INTRODUCTION
1.1DOCUMENTATIONCONTENTS
ThepurposeofthisOperationandMaintenanceDocumentation(OMD)istopresenttheapplication,
design and operation of the IGNIS 2040 fire detection and alarm control panel which constitute a
partofthefiredetectionandalarmsystem.Thedocumentationcontainsnecessaryinformationon
theIGNIS2040controlpanelsfordesigners,fittersandmaintenancetechnicians.Togetherwiththe
UserManualIOE339001,intendedforthosewhoareondutydirectlyatthecontrolpanel,itmakes
thecompleteoperatingdocumentationattachedtothecontrolpanelanddeliveredtoitsuser.
1.2CONTROLPANELAPPLICATION
TheIGNIS2040firecontrolpanelisdesignedto:
1. signal a fire occurrence detected by an interoperating fire warning devices (automatic and
manual),
2. indicateafireendangeredplacebyidentificationofthealarmingdetectionline,
3. actuatefireprotectionequipment,
4. transmitafiresignaltoproperservices,e.g.FireBrigades.

TheIGNIS2040controlpanelisintendedforcontinuousoperationinpremisesoflowdustlevelat
ambienttemperaturefrom5Cto+40Candairrelativehumidityupto80%at+40C.
1.3SAFETYCONDITIONS
1.3.1Electricshockprotection
ThePOLON4000systemfirecontrolpanelsarerankedasthe1stprotectionclassdevicesandcanbe
usedonlyinthecaseofapplicationofadditionalprotectionagainstelectricshocks,suchaszeroingor
protectivegrounding.
230V/50Hzmainssupplycircuitsinsulationisreinforcedandresists2800Vvoltagetest;lowvoltage
circuits(below42V)insulationisabletoresisttestvoltageof700VDC.
1.3.2Installationandequipmentsafety
Wire installation should be made using conductors of the required fire resistance and should be
properly protected in passages through fire zone boundaries. In order to avoid undesirable
interaction,arequireddistancebetweenthelowvoltageinstallationandapowerinstallationanda
lightning protection system should be maintained. From the system electromagnetic interference
immunity,itisrecommendedtoutiliseprotectivegrounding.Reservepowersupplybatteriesshould
beconnectedtothepanelatthefinalstageoftheinstallation.
The panel components are heat sensitive. The maximum ambient temperature should not exceed
+40C.Thespaceleftaroundthedeviceshouldbebigenoughtosecurefreeairflow.Airhumidityin
thepremiseswherethepaneloperatesshouldnotexceed95%.
1.3.3Repairsandmaintenance
Maintenanceworksandperiodicinspectionsshouldbeexecutedbyskilled personnelemployedby
companiesauthorisedortrainedbyPolonAlfa.Anyrepairsmustbecarriedoutbythemanufacturer.
PolonAlfabearsnoresponsibilityfortheoperationofanyapparatusbeingservicedorrepairedby
unauthorisedpersonnel.

1.3.4Fusereplacement
Intheeventoffusereplacement,anequivalentfusereplacementshouldbeused:oftheappropriate
typeandnominalvalue.Theappropriatetypesandnominalvaluesarecontainedintable2.3.

A set of data saved in the control panel memory defining default parameters set by the
manufacturer,suchasdelaytimes,disablements,alarmvariants,etc.
Quiescent(supervision)mode
Anoperationmode,inwhichthecontrolpanelispowersuppliedfromanelectricenergysourcethat
meetsthesettledrequirements,duringwhichnootheroperationmodeisindicated.
Alarm(fire)mode
Anoperationmodethecontrolpaneltriggersafterreceiptandverificationofafireoccurrencesignal
fromfirewarningdevices.
Disablementmode
Anoperationmode,inwhichitisdeliberatelyblockedthecontrolpanelabilitytoreceivesignalsfrom
anyfirewarningdevicesandtoevokealarms,orthecontrolpaneloutputand/ortransmissionpath
toanyfiredetectionandalarmsystemcomponentthatisapartofalarmcircuit.
Testingmode
Anoperationmodeinwhichthecontrolpanelindicatesfunctioningchecking.
Faultmode
Anoperationmodeinwhichthecontrolpanelindicatesafaultofanythinginalarminstallationorits
owncircuits.

Thecontrolpanelisintendedforwallmounting.Thefrontsideismadeintheformofametalcover
platewitharectangularwindowinwhichallhandlingandsignallingelementsarelocatedaswellasa
liquidcrystaldisplay.Thecoverplatecanberemovedafterunfastening4screws.Cablebushingsare
located in the casing upper part and they are intended to introduce alarm installation wires and
mains power supply conductors. Some space is also provided there to place spare cables. The

followingelementsarelocatedinsidethecabinetontheprintedboardedge:wireconnectors,restart
push button, battery connection push button, configuration jumpers and USB port of the event
recorder.ThecontrolpanelgeneralviewanddimensionsareshowninFig.4.
4.4CONTROLPANELGENERALOPERATIONPRINCIPLE
The IGNIS 2040 is a conventional (nonaddressable) control panel that interoperates with fire
detectors installed in twocore detection lines terminated with endofline resistors. The device
indicatesafirealarmorfaultwithadetectionlineaccuracy.
The control panel processor continuously analyses all necessary information received from the
detection lines, monitors handling element status, controls optical and acoustic signalling and
controls output circuit relays. It supervises the basic and reserve power supply circuits advising
possiblefaults.

Fouraccesslevelstohandlingelementsareprovidedinthecontrolpanel:

occurrence.Atthisaccesslevel,theACKNOWLEDGEMENT(17),FAULT(2)andDELAYRESET(5)push
buttonsareactive,aswellasanaccesscodeenteringfunction.
2ndaccesslevelisprovidedforpersonsholdingspecialresponsibilityforsafetywhoaretrainedand
authorisedtoservicethecontrolpanelwithinalimitedscope.Thesecondaccesslevelisobtainable
byappropriateaccesscodeentering.Itallowstouseallthepushbuttonslocatedonthedevices
frontpanelandfunctionsthatdonotchangethecontrolpanelprogrammedconfiguration.
3rdaccesslevelisdesignedfortrainedpersonswhoareauthorisedtochangetheconfigurationdata
andcarryoutmaintenanceworks.The3rdaccesslevelisobtainedbyproperaccesscodeentering.

5CONTROLPANELOPERATIONMODES
5.1QUIESCENTMODE
Inthequiescentmode,i.e.whilethecontrolpaneliswaitingforasignalfromfirewarningdevices,
only the green POWER (10) diode is lit on the front panel to inform that power supply is on. In
addition,thecurrenttimeanddatearedisplayedontheLCDdisplay(12).
Thegeneralfirealarmrelaysandzonerelaysareinactive,andthegeneralfaultrelayisinanactive
state(nofault).
5.2ALARMMODE
5.2.1Firealarmsignalling
Thefollowingindicationscanbeobservedonthecontrolpanelfrontsideduringthefirealarm:
at least one of the ZONE 16 zone indicating diodes is lit; the first zone where a fire has
occurredisdistinguishedwithflashinglight,allothersarelitwithsteadylight;
- theFIREdiodeislitwithsteadylightthe2ndstagefirealarmorwithflashinglightthe1st
stagefirealarm;
- afirealarmmessage,indicatingthezone(orzones)numberandtheelapsingtimeremaining
untilfirealarmrelaysareactivated(transmission),appearontheLCD;
- aninternalacousticsignallingdeviceisswitchedon,witha0.5s/0.5sintervalsignal
- activealarmlinesgenerateasignalthatactuatesexternalalarmdevices.
The control panel acoustic signal can be silenced at the 1st access level by pressing the
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTpushbutton.
External devices can be disabled (or reenabled) after entering the 2nd level access code by the
SIGNALLINGDEVICESDISABLEMENTpushbutton.

5.2.2Firealarmverificationbytheattendingpersonnel
Thecontrolpanelenablesanoccurrenceverificationbythepersonnelincaseafirealarmhasbeen
revealed. It is required that the attending person approaches the panel and confirms an alarm
receiptwithinaprogrammedT1timebypressingtheACKNOWLEDGEMENTpushbutton.Incasethe
personondutyfailstoacknowledgethealarmreceiptwithintheT1timeperiod,thecontrolpanel
initiates an alarm transmission outside (e.g. to the monitoring centre or fire brigade) after the T1
time lapse or automatically actuates the firefighting equipment (depending on the system
configuration). After the fire alarm receipt acknowledgment, the person on duty is given an
additional T2 time for recognition of a real fire threat in the premises. Both T1 and T2 times are
programmable;theT2timeshouldbelongerthantheT1time.
Theelapsingtimeleftforthealarmacknowledgmentandforthethreatrecognitionbythepersonon
dutyisdisplayedontheLCD(5).
Incaseathreatdoesnotexist,thepersonshouldresetthealarmmodewiththeRESETpushbutton.
Thisoperationiseffectivewhennofirefactorispresentinthevicinityofthefirewarningdevicethat
hasevokedthealarmandafterthe2ndaccesslevelisobtainedbythecodeentering.

5.2.3Automaticalarmsignalverification
Thecontrolpanelpossessesalgorithmsthatenableverificationoffirealarmsignalcomingfromfire
warningdevices.Recognitionofthereceivedsignalasafirealarmisprecededbymultiplechecking
readoutofthelinestatus.
Moreover,itisapossibletoprogramthefollowingalarmvariantsforeverydetectionline:

Onestage alarm variant 0 without any delay, in which a line element actuation
immediatelytriggersthe2ndstagefirealarm(thealarmtransmissionrelaysactuation).
Twostagealarmvariant1twostagealarmwithaprogrammabledelaytimeT2=010min
forthe2ndstagefirealarmindication.Lackofthepersonnelacknowledgementshortensthe
delaytimetotheprogrammedT1time;theRELAYSDISABLEMENTpushbuttonpressingwill
resultinthedelaytimezeroingandimmediateoutputsactuation.
Onestage alarm with a preliminary reset, (type A dependence in accordance with PN
standard) variant 2 without any delay, in which the first detector actuation evokes its
immediatereset.Analarmistriggeredafterarepeatedactivationofanydetectorinthesame
linebefore60s10stimelapsefromthepreviousactuation.After60s10stimepassing
withoutanynewalarmtriggering,thecontrolpanelreturnstotheinitialmode.
Onestage alarm with a line interdependence (coincidence), (type B dependence in
accordancewithPNstandard)variant3withoutanydelay,inwhichitispossibletocreate
pairs of interdependent zones. The first alarm evoked in a line belonging to an
interdependentpairactuatesonlytheinternalacousticbuzzer,zonefieldindicationandLCD
signalling (without the general fire indicator actuation). The 2nd stage fire alarm is triggered
immediatelyafterenteringthealarmmodebytheotherlinebelongingtotheinterdependent
pair under a condition that the first alarm has not been reset. The first alarm lasts until its
manualreset.

5.3FAULTMODE
The fault mode is signalled by the control panel by the yellow FAULT (2) diode and by an acoustic
faultsignal.Theacousticfaultsignalisaninterruptedsoundin0.5s/0.5scycle.Detailedinformation
aboutafaulttypeisavailableontheLCDdisplayaftertheF.01FAULTREADOUTfunctionselectionor
aftertheFAULT(2)pushbuttonpressingatthe1staccesslevel.
Thecontrolpanelfaultmodeissignalledincaseof:
- abreakoforashortcircuitinanydetectionline;
- abreakoforashortcircuitinalarm(externalacousticsignallingdevice)line;
- amainspowersupplyfault;
- abatteryfaultresultingfromitsinternalresistanceincreaseabove2oralackofabattery;
- abatterychargingdevicefault;
- abreakinthechargingcircuit;
- aF1fuseinsertburnout;
- amicroprocessorsystemfault;
- anearthfault,i.e.connectionofanycontrolpanelcircuitoranylineattachedtoitwiththe
controlpanelmetalcasingorwithothergroundedobjects.
Silencingofthesoundsignalispossibleatthe1staccesslevelbypressingtheACKNOWLEDGEMENT
push button. A reset of light signalling proceeds automatically after the fault removal. The only
exceptionisakindofsystemfaultresultingfromthemicroprocessorcontrollerseriousfault,which
cannot be silenced, due to its importance, with the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT push button. A system
fault resulting from false configuration data can be silenced with the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT push
button but in such the case it is necessary to check the control panel configuration settings and,
eventually,correctthem.Ifthesignallingstillpersists,aftersuchchecking/correcting,itmeansthat

thecontrolpanelisdamaged.Itisnecessarytoswitchthecontrolpanelpowersupplyoffandcallthe
servicepersonnel.
Inthefaultmode,thePK8generalfaultrelayisreleased.
5.4DISABLEMENTMODE
ThedisablementmodeissignalledbythecontrolpanelbytheyellowDISABLEMENT(3)diode.Any
disablementandreenablement(andthedisabledoutputsreadout)ispossibleafterenteringatleast
2nd access level code and with the DISABLEMENT (3) quick access push button or using the F.03
DISABLEMENTfunction.Thedisablementconcernsallinputs/outputs/L1L6lineoutputsandPK1
PK8 relay outputs. The disabled detection lines are inactive, they do not report any fault or alarm,
and relay and alarm outputs are switched off. The yellow DISABLEMENT (3) diode stops the
disablementmodeindicationwhenalldisablementsareremoved.

5.5TESTINGMODE
The control panel allows for testing fire warning devices in detection lines by actuating them with
e.g. fire factor imitators. Switching a zone (line) into the testing mode is possible after entering at
least2ndaccesslevelcode.TestingisexecutedutilisingtheF.04HARDWARETESTINGfunction,which
is available immediately after pressing the TESTING push button. During the testing mode, the
controlpaneldoesnotindicateafirealarmanddoesnotactuatesanyoutputslinkedwithit.Thetest
alarmindicationislimitedtothereddiodeflashesinthezonefieldofthenumberconsistentwiththe
detectionlinebeingtested.Thesignallingdurationtimeisequaltoseveralseconds,itbeginsatthe
moment when a test alarm is reported by the detector and control panel and is finished with an
automaticreset.
TheF.04HARDWARETESTINGfunctionenablesalsoanefficiencyinspectionofalldiodeslocatedon
thecontrolpanelfrontsideandinternalacousticsignallingdevice.
Ingeneral,thetestingmodeisindicatedbytheTESTING(4)diodewhenatleastonelineisswitched
overintothetestingmode.

6POWERSUPPLY
6.1.BASICPOWERSUPPLY
Thecontrolpanelbasicpowersupplysourceis230V/50Hzmains.Avoltagealterationwithin+10%
and15%rangedoes notinfluencethecontrol panelproperoperation. Thecontrolpanelinternal
powersupplydevicehasthegeneralcurrentefficiencyat1.5A,whichisusedforthecontrolpanel
andchargingcircuitspowersupply;0.4Aloadisreservedforauxiliaryexternaldevices.
6.2.RESERVEPOWERSUPPLY
Incaseofmainsvoltageoutage,thecontrolpanelissuppliedfromareservebatteryclusterof24V
nominalvoltageand3.27Ahcapacity.Aswitchoverfromthemainpowersupplytothereserve
oneiscarriedoutautomatically,withoutanybreakinpowersupply.Theapproximatecontrolpanel
operation time when it is supplied from the batteries only at the full lines load (in the quiescent
modeand+0.5hinthealarmmode),withnocurrentdrawfromtheexternaldevicepowersupply
output,ispresentedinTable6.1forvariousbatterycapacities.

Duringthecontrolpanelconfiguration,whensomecurrentconsumptionbyauxiliaryexternaldevices

thereservebatterypowereddeviceoperationtimewillbeaccordinglyshorter.Thebatteryclusteris
automaticallychargedbythecontrolpanelpowersupplydevice.
Theefficiencyofboththebatteriesandchargingdeviceiscontinuouslymonitoredandanyfaultis
beingsignalled.Thebatteryisrecognisedasinoperativewhenitsinternalresistance(togetherwith
theconnectionresistance)increasesandexceeds2.
The battery installation, operation and wastedisposal must be carried out pursuant to the
manufacturersmanual.Awastebatterymustbedeliveredtoapropercollectingandrecyclingpoint
inaccordancewiththelawinforce.
6.2.1Automaticpowersupplyswitchoff
Duringthecontrolpaneloperation,beingpoweredonlyfromthebatterycluster,thebatteryvoltage
progressively decreases. A reserve power supply voltage drop down to ca. 22 V is acoustically
signalled.Furtherdeclineinthebatterypanelvoltageandachievingca.21Vlevelwillresultinthe
controlpanelautomaticswitchoff.Thepowersupplyrenewed switchon,afteraproperlycharged
batteryreconnection,mayrequirepressingoftheW.AKUpushbuttonwhichislocatedinsidethe
controlpanelontheprintedcircuitboard.

7INSTALLATION
7.1CONTROLPANELMOUNTING
Thecontrolpanelshouldtobemountedonawallusingthreeexpansionanchorboltsofminimum
diameter at 8 mm. The spacing of the fastening bolt holes is shown in Fig. 4. The control panel
mountingispossibleonlywithoutbatteries.
7.2WIRING
Detection, alarm and controlling lines should be routed according to the commonly applicable
principles used in telecommunications. The lines must be continuous and terminated with endof
lineresistors.Theycanberoutedalongsidehighvoltageelectricalconductors.
Thedetectionlinewirescanbeinsertedintothecontrolpanelfromtheinstallationledinthewall
plaster. They are introduced into the control panel upper part through round bushings: separately
themainssupplywiresandlowvoltagewires.Theterminalsofthedetectionlinesandrelayoutputs
on the printed circuit board are removable what enables easy wire connection. The connection
terminalsarrangementanddescriptionsispresentedinFig.2.

paying attention to careful conductor fixing that precludes accidental touching of bold conductor
endings.Thecontrolpanelcanbeusedonlyinthecaseofapplicationofadditionalprotectionagainst
electricshocks,suchaszeroingorprotectivegrounding.Laboratorytests,checkingtherequiredby
thestandardsinforceinterferenceimmunity,havebeencarriedoutwithgroundingapplication.

8CONTROLPANELSPECIALAPPLICATIONS
8.1EXPLOSIONENDANGEREDPREMISESPROTECTION
Installationoffiredetectorsandmanualcallpointsinzoneswhereexplosivemixturesofgasesand
liquidvapoursoccurispossibleinintrinsicallysafedetectioncircuits.Suchcircuitsprovidethe[ExIb
IIC]safetycategory.
IntrinsicallysafedetectionlinesintheIGNIS2000systemcanbecreatedinconventionallineswithan
applicationofintrinsicallysafeseparators.Detailedinformationconcerningthedeviceinstallationin
explosionendangeredareasisavailableattheintrinsicallysafeelementmanufacturers.

9INPUTANDOUTPUTCIRCUITCONNECTINGTERMINALS
The control panelis equippedwitha setofconnectingterminalsdesignedforconnectionofalarm
installation wires, external devices and mains power supply. The terminals enable connection of
wiresofamaximumdiameterat1.2mmandacrosssectionat1.5mm2.Itisrecommendedtouse
screened conductors approved by appropriate certification authorities. The arrangement of the
terminalswiththeirmarkingispresentedinFig.2.
Mains powersupply:The cableterminals(withthe F3fuse)are providedtoconnect230V/50Hz
mainswiresandaprotectionwireitem3inFig.2.
Detection lines: The detection lines should be connected to the 46 pairs of connectors with
properly marked polarisation. The line 5 and 6 can be configured as a detection or alarm one
dependingontheS9andS10jumperspositioninaccordancewiththeinformationcontainedinFig.1.
The S9 and S10 jumpers position is detected in the quiescent mode. It is recommended to create
detection lines using a screened cable certified by an appropriate authority, e.g. in Poland with
YnTKSYekw1x2x0.8cablecertifiedbytheCNBOP.Theterminalstoconnectthecablescreensare
placedabovethedetectionlineterminalsonthecontrolpanelcabinetnearthebushingsFig.2.The
detectionlinesshouldbeterminatedwith10kendoflineresistors.Fig.5depictsthemethodofG
40 base connection in a detection line. In the case of unused lines, the endofline resistor is
connectedtothecontrolpaneloutputterminals.Allsupervisedlinesmustbefurnishedwithanend
oflineresistorotherwisethecontrolpanelwillreportafault.
Alarm(controlling)lines.Lines5and6canbeusedasalarmlinesunderaconditionthattheS9and
S10jumpersaresetinposition23asshowninFig.1.Thelinesaremonitored(asforabreakand
short circuit) and designed mainly to connect external acoustic devices. They can be also used for
firefighting equipment control. To ensure proper monitoring and controlling of the connected
signallingdevicesorotherequipment,thetotallineresistanceshouldrangefrom130to10k.In
thecaseofanunusedlineorcontrolofadeviceofhigherresistance,itisobligatorytoconnectin
parallela10kendoflineresistor.Adiagramshowingadetectionlineconnectionispresentedin
Fig.1. In the quiescent mode, a monitoring voltage is observed in the controlling lines, with
polarisation consistent with the marking shown in Fig. 1 the diodes connected in series with the
signalling devices are polarised in such a way to block the current flow. In the active state (alarm
mode) the voltage polarisation is changed for the opposite one and the diodes connected to the
signallingdevicesareintheconductingstate.
Fire alarm relay outputs: The relay outputs, activated during a fire alarm, are designed to control
additional protecting devices or to transfer information about the control panel mode to the
monitoringcentre.ThecontrolpanelisequippedwithrelaysmarkedasPK1PK8,theirterminalsare
connectedtotheterminalboard.Fig.1(andtheinformativelabelinsidethecontrolpanel)depicts
theterminalpositioninthenonpotentialstate(thecontrolpanelnotpowersupplied).
PK1PK6programmablerelaysassignedbydefaulttothedetectionlinesinsuchthewaythatthe
L1L6linealarmmodeactuatesthePK1PK6relaysaccordingly.Itispossibletoprogram
every PK1PK6 relay in dependence on any detection line (zone) alarm mode or the
generalfaultoccurrence.Inthecaseofdetectorsthatrequireabreakinthepowersupply
circuitforthealarmmodereset,itisprovidedtoprogramanyPK1PK6relayinsuchthe
way that the terminals are switched over for the time of the control panel alarm mode
reset(seeF.08RELAYPROGRAMMING).
PK7 general alarm relay, switches the terminals over at the moment of a 2nd stage fire alarm
occurrence,whatcanbeprogramdelaysby0..10min.UsingtheDELAYDISABLEMENT(5)itis
possibletodisable(switchoff)thedelayfunctionandobtainimmediateactuation.

PK8 general fault relay. During the control panel normal operation the relay is switched on. It
switchesoveratthemomentwhenafaultorvoltagedecreaseoccurs.Atypicalapplicationof
therelayisthefaultsignaltransmissiontothemonitoringcentre.
Externaldevicepowersupplyoutput:Twopairsofterminalssupplying24VDCvoltagearelocated
on the terminal board and they are designed for power supply of the external devices that are
activatede.g.fromrelayoutputs.Thepositiveterminalisprotectedwitha500mAmonitoredmelt
fuse.
NOTE:
Incaseexternaldevicesdrawcurrentalsoduringquiescentmode,theoperationtimeofthecontrol
panel which is supplied from internal batteries during a mains (basic) power supply outage, will
decreaseproportionallytothecurrentconsumptionfromthecontrolpanel.
Signal transmission. Auxiliary devices controlling. The control panel is able to control protecting
devices or transfer fire alarm signals to a monitoring station using the relay outputs that are
activated during the fire alarm. The relays operation may be disabled with the help of the F.03
DISABLEMENT function when it is necessary. The zone relays can be programmed for actuation
dependent on various occurrences and zones, using the F.08 RELAY PROGRAMMING function. All
relaysarefurnishedwithapossibilitytoswitchthecontactsoverforopenedandclosed(NOorNC)
withthehelpofjumpers.

10MAINTENANCE
10.1GENERALRULES
Firealarmsystems,assafetyinstallations,mustbecontinuouslykeptatfullefficiency,thereforethey
require proper maintenance. The premises user is obliged to ensure the installation maintenance,
bestofallbysigninganappropriateagreementwithamaintenancetechnician.
Themaintenanceconsistsincarryingoutperiodicalinspectionsandremovalofpossiblefaults.The
maintenancetechnicianshouldthoroughlystudythismanual.Heshouldknowexactlytheoperating
principlesofthecontrolpanelandinteroperatingmanualandautomaticfirewarningdevices,aswell
as other devices connected to the control panel. It is highly recommended to pass a training
organizedbythemanufacturerthatcoversfirealarmsystemsapplication,installationandoperation.
The maintenance technician should also know the premises territory, displacement of the system,
detection line routes, arrangement of fire detectors and manual call points, and environmental
conditionsthatmayinfluencethedeviceswork.
10.2PERIODICALTESTING
Theperiodicalchecksconsistinoperationtestsofalldetectorsandfiremanualcallpointsinstalledin
thedetectionlines,thecontrolpanelanditsoutputcircuits:thelinesthatcontrolexternalacoustic
signalling devices or firefighting devices, as well as the protecting device monitoring line and the
monitoringsystemcircuits.TheperiodicaltestsshouldbeexecutedinaccordancePKNCEN/TS5414:
2006standard.
Periodicaltestingfrequency:themanufacturerrecommendsexecutingtheperiodicaltestsatleast
once per year. Nevertheless, the system owner, in agreement with the system designer and the
maintenancetechnician,shouldincreasethetestfrequency,ifthesystemoperatingconditionsare
hard(highhumidity,corrosionenvironment,dusting,etc.).
Theperiodicaltestingscopeconsistsin:
- event memory readout (using a computer), in order to check the control panel attending
personnelappropriateworkandpossiblesignalsindicatedbythecontrolpanel;
- inspection (testing) of every signalling diode and acoustic signalling device of the control
panel;

consecutivetestingofeveryfiredetector(e.g.usingsmokeandheatimitators)andmanual
callpointsinstalledineverydetectionline,utilisingapossibilitytoswitchanylinefortesting;
visualevaluationofthefiredetectorstechnicalcondition(levelofdirt,corrosion,permanent
soil) and of manual call points, especially in case of their longer operation, that should be
carriedoutduringadevicetesting;
ifnecessary,cleaningofthefiredetectorsandtheirreplacementorregeneration;
checking the external signalling devices and connected protective and firefighting devices
underaconditionthatthepremisesuserisinformedandtakingnecessarymeasurestoavoid
panic or any damage in the building resulting from the test execution. The external signal
receiversandamonitoringcentremustbenotifiedofaplannedtest;
battery voltage value checking on the clamps during buffering proper voltage value
amountsto27.127.6V;
batteryconditioncheckingaccordingtothebatterymanufacturerrecommendations.

10.3FUSEREPLACEMENT
Thecontrolpanelisequippedwiththreemeltfusesinthefollowingcircuits:
- batteryclusterF1meltfuseofF630L250type;
- externaldevicespowersupplyF2meltfuseofF500L250type;
- mainspowersupplyF3meltfuseofT3,15L250type.

11PACKING,STORAGEANDTRANSPORTATION
Packaging
The control panel is placed in a unit packing, reducing free movement possibility and eliminating
damageoccurrenceduringloadingandtransportation.
Thefollowingdataaremarkedonthepackage:

thenameorthetrademarkofthemanufacturer;

thenameandthetypeofthecontrolpanel;

Moreover,thefollowingmarkingisplacedonthepackage:
CAUTIONFRAGILE,UPPERSIDE,DONTTURNOVER,KEEPDRYorequivalentmarksaccording
tothePN85/079252PolishStandard.
Storage
Thecontrolpanelshouldbestoredinclosedpremisesatatemperaturebetween+5 oCand+40 oC
and relative humidity not exceeding 80 %, free ofcorrosive vapours and gases. In case the control
panelisstoredforalongerperiod,itisnecessarytoconnectittoapowersupplyforatleast1hour
andexecuteoperationtestsevery6months.
Duringstoragethecontrolpanelshouldnotbeexposedtoheatradiation:directsunlightorheating
devices.
Transportation
The control panels should be carried in their packing by closed transport means, taking into
considerationthetransportrecommendationsmarkedonthepackage,andprotectingthemagainst
sharpshocksandavoidingambienttemperatureexceedingthe25oCto+55oCrange.

thecontrolpanelassembly;
connection to appropriate terminal of all lines introduced to the control panel, with
exceptionof230Vmainsconductors;
creationofthepaperinsertwithzonedescriptions(anditslocationinthezonefieldonthe
frontpanel)
preparationofthelineelementslistwiththeirlocationdescription.

Electricconnectionsinspection:
checkingoftheconfigurationjumperspositionsonthecontrolpanelprintedcircuitboard;
checkingofcorrectnessoflinewiresconnectiontothecontrolpanelterminalswithspecial
attentiontoproperpolarization(+,)
inspection of endofline resistors connection in the last bases of the supervised lines
(detectionandalarmones);
in the case of unused lines (detection and alarm ones) checking of endofline resistors
connectioninthelinesterminalsinthecontrolpanel;
batteriesinsertion;
connecting in series two 12 V batteries with special attention given to +, polarisation
markingonthebatteryclamps.

Commissioning

ThecontrolpanelcommissioningbyinsertingtheF3mainssupplyfuseinsert;

zonefield;
checkingoperationoftheexecutivedevicesinteroperatingwiththecontrolpanel
testingalarmandfaultsignaltransmission;
modificationofthedefaultaccesscodesfortheusercodes(ifnecessary).

Aftertheinstallationcommissioningit isadvisedtocheckandpossiblytosetthecurrent dateand


timeandtheeventmemoryerasure.
The works can be treated as finished when all actions described above have been performed and
properoperationofallsystemdeviceshasbeenconfirmedaswellasthecontrolpaneloperationin
thequiescentmode(withoutfaultsanddisablementssignalling)theinstallationcanbepassedto
itsuser.
