The Importance of Library
Thesis
I personally believe that libraries are among humanitys most
important institutions for several reasons.
Arguments
Firstly most of humanitys collective knowledge is stored in
libraries. Secondly, libraries protect and preserve this knowledge.
They also classify or group the materials into logical and easily
available to everyone and even provide librarians to help us find
what we need. Finally, libraries are our link to the past and our gift to
the future.
Reiteration
From the facts above, I conclude that libraries are important
institutions for humanity.

Activity 6. Work in pairs. Create a short dialogue to respond to the topic of the text.
Use the expressions you have learnt.
Drug users are actually ill people who need to be helped. Rehabilitation is one of the main things that
they should get. Instead of punishing and stacking them in prisons which are getting full, the government
should provide rehabilitation for them.
Most users are actually victims of persuasive peddlers and they suffer from consuming the drugs.
Therefore, by rehabilitating them, we are actually helping them out of a trap, which they might
accidentally step on. They then, can start a normal life again.
On the other hand, if we only arrest drug users and send them to jail it doesnt solve the problem
because the drug users will still be addicts unless being properly treated. Jails will be filled up with drug
users. Moreover, the users will still be users after released from prison. They then, will be arrested again.

By providing rehabilitating programmes for drug users and forcing them to participate on the
programmes is way better than only arresting them and do nothing on their illness. Moreover, the prison
will not be so full and packed up with users. Only drug dealers, traffickers, and wholesalers should be
imprisoned instead.
Activity 7. Act out the dialogue you have made in front of the class.
Activity8. Observe the environment around your house. Then tell the class about it. Do it
individually.

Text 1
Sometimes we get many coins as change, from purchases. It is good to save the coins.
6
First, it will not be a burden, because they are just little amounts. Second, we can learn to be
committed, not to touch the money until we have a certain amount of savings. Finally, when
we really need money, there may be a surprising amount of money in coins. In conclusion,
saving coins is beneficial.

Text 2
I personally think that reading is a very important activity in our life. Why do I say so?
Well, firstly, by reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world such as
science, technology, sports, arts and culture. We can learn about all these things by reading
books, magazines, newspapers or surfing the Internet.
Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and information about what is happening in
other parts of the world.
You know, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read the entertainment
section
of
a newspaper of magazine for relaxation.
Lastly, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book about
Papua, we may feel were really sitting in a jungle in Papua, not at home in our rooms.
From the facts I have stated, its obvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge,
information and also entertainment. In summary, we can say reading is truly important in our
lives.
