Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The book starts off nineteen years after Voldemort's defeat and Harry is the Head of
Magical Law Enforcement and has three children with Ginny, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and
Lily Luna. James is the oldest then Albus, and Lily. Hermione is now the Minister of Magic and
has married Ron who has taken over Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes from his twin older brothers.
They have two children who are Rose and Hugo. Albus is confused about whether he should be
in gryffindor or slytherin house and talks to Harry. When getting on the train to Hogwarts Albus
becomes friends Scorpius Malfoy who is Draco Malfoys son. When they arrive at Hogwarts
Albus is sorted into slytherin, much to the schools surprise. Scorpius is also in slytherin and
Rose is in Gryffindor. Albus has a hard time living up to his fathers old reputation at Hogwarts.
Scorpius has a hard time after his mom Astoria passes and is accused of being Voldemorts secret
son. Rose moves farther away from Albus and becomes popular. The Ministry of Magic
confiscates an illegal time-turner from Theodore Nott, who was a former Death Eater. Cedric
Diggory's father Amos wants Harry to use a time-turner to save his son Cedric. But Harry doesn't
want to. Albus then makes a new friend Delphi who is Amos caretaker. Harry continues having
trouble parenting Albus. Albus talks Scorpius into obtaining the Time-Turner in order to remedy
Harry's mistake while on the way to Hogwarts in his fourth year. The two climb onto the roof
and jump off the train before making their way to see Delphi. Harry, Ginny, and Draco learn that
Albus and Scorpius are missing; Ginny concludes Albus ran away after his argument with Harry,
and Draco is upset that Scorpius has been pulled into their family issues. Delphi provides
Scorpius and Albus with Polyjuice Potion; disguised as Harry (Scorpius), Ron (Albus), and
Hermione (Delphi), the trio infiltrate the Ministry and successfully steal the Time-Turner from
Hermione's office. After they steal the time-turner they go on a series of times in the past and
have to keep going back and fixing them. In the series of times Scorpius convinces Professor
Snape who is still at Hogwarts in this scenario and he helps get Scorpius out of the cycle. Both
of the boys then confess what they did to Professor McGonnogal Scorpius then secretly tells
Albus that he lied to the adults about losing the Time-Turner, that he had it all along, because he
did not trust the adults to not secretly keep it. The boys resolve to destroy it once and for all. The
ending is very long and I have to end it here so I dont spoil it.

First off I didn't enjoy the book as much as the original seven books. The format of it
being like a script was sometimes confusing. The format also didn't make the book flow nicely
as the others. Other criticisms I have about the book are that there isn't enough action like how
there was in the originals. It seemed that there was a fight scene or something of that nature
every chapter. I this one there are a lot more character interactions and development. Overall
the ideas were pretty good but they didn't execute as I felt they should for adding to such a huge
series. To be honest I didn't think they needed to add the series the ending of the deathly hallows
was to intense. The epilogue at the end of the deathly hallows did leave room for them to add to

the series if they ever wanted to. In conclusion Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a 3 out of 5
stars due to the format and less action.
