LESSON 1

THE TIMES AND AGES A STUDY

Reading References: Genesis 1,2
Memory Verses:
Ecclesia 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they
cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (NIV)
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one
can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. (NKJV)
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man
can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. (KJV)

(1) What do you understand bytimes?

Period of time between two major events that cause changes in the outside nature of the earth
(2) What are the three times mentioned in relation to the earth? What are the time limits for these?
Depending on the substantial changes that has happened to the state of the earth time could be divided into three stages.
1. Ancient times. (2 Pet 2:5; 3:5-6; Gen Ch 3-6).
The time period from the creation to the time of the flood during Noahs existence is often called the ancient period. (From Adam
to Noah). Man who was created in the image of God, with the capacities to think, take decisions and the desire to worship,
sinned and moved away from God. God destroyed the earth and its inhabitants by the flood because of their evil nature. This
time period is often called the ancient times. (2Pet 2:5).
2. The present times. (2 Pet 3:7-9).
The time from the flood till the advent of Christ (second coming and rapture) is called the present times. After the flood Noahs
sons spread out into the whole world. Shems descendants moved to Asia, hams descendants moved to Africa and the
descendants of Japheth moved to Europe. Since the present day inhabitants of the world who are the descendants of Noah has
become unfaithful to the Lord and evil they will be destroyed by fire.
3. The future. (Heb 2:5; 2 Pet 3:10-13).
This is the time from the rapture of the church form the earth to the eternity. This includes the time spend in the mid-heavens, the
millennium, the establishment of the new earth and the new heaven (the eternity).
(3) What do you understand by dispensation?
A dispensation is a period of time during which man is tested in respect of obedience to some specific revelation of the will of
God. In each of the dispensations god had instructed the human beings on his will and given them laws to obey. If it were found
that the human beings failed in this test god would end the dispensation and punish the offenders. Each of these dispensations
had four special features. They are
1. God gives the law and explains to them the things that have to be followed.
2. Man disobeys. Those who are close to god only can keep away from wrongdoing.
3. God sends the judgment. Since god is love, he chastises his creation, the human beings, after letting them be aware of
their mistakes.
4. God grants grace. God proves that he is not only a god who is angered but also a god who shows mercy and grace.
(4) Give the structure and time limit of the ages or dispensation .
1. The sinless age (innocence): from the time of creating man to the time when Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of
Eden.
2. The Age of conscience; the time period from Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden till the time of the great flood (Noahs
period).
3. The age of human rule: From the time of the flood to the time when Abraham was called forth.
4. The age of promise: from the time when Abraham was called to the time when the Israelites were given the commandments
on the Mt.Sinai.
5. The age of the laws: from the time when the law was given at Mt.Sinai to the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
(1524 years).
6. The age of grace: from the time when the church as instituted to the time of rapture of the church.
7. The future age (Millineum): from the time of rapture to the establishment of the new heaven and the new earth.
Among the seven dispensations the first two are of the ancient times, the next four are of the present times and the last one is of
the future times.

-----LESSON 2
THE AGE OF SINLESS NATURE
Reading References: Genesis 1:3 -2:25
Memory Verses:
Ephesians 4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted
by its deceitful desires;to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created
to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV)
That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the
deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was
created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. (NKJV)
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the
deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after
God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV)

(1) What are differences between the creation of man and the other living things?
God created everything other than the human being with a command let there be. But man was created in his own image. From
the dust, he got the factors related to this earth and from the Lord he got the spiritual factors.

(2) Give the meaning of the words used in the original text to describe creation.
(1). Bara. To create. (Gen 1:1,21; 2:3-4). This word refers to something being created out of nothing. (2). Asah to form.
This word refers to something being made or formed rearranged and changed out of something that already exists. (Gen
1:7,16,25,26,31; 2:2). (3). Yazar- to make, restructure. This word refers to something being made and changed in its structure.
(Gen 2:7,8,10).
(3) How did the first earth become void and without form?
The angels that had inhabited the earth became accursed because of their pride and disobedience. God punished the earth that
they had inhabited and made it void. (Isa 14:4-16 and Ezek 28:1-19)
(4) Describe the blessed nature of man in the age of sinless nature.
God made the earth which was void and without form habitable in six days. At the end of the sixth day, he created man in his
own image. (Gen 1:26-29). The similarity that man has to god the Holy Spirit is not physical. He was similar to his creator in
righteousness, the glory of god and holiness. Thus, man was made without sin. God created him free. He was intelligent enough
to name all the living things of the earth. (Gen 2:20). Man lived in the Garden of Eden in a blessed state. There were many
beautiful fruits and other vegetations in this garden. To water the garden there was a river with four streams. God appointed
man to look after the garden. God gave him the power to rule over all the living creatures. God instituted marriage for the human
beings in this age of sinless nature. God gave them the gift of fertility so that they could produce offspring. God prepared
everything that man needed for his sustenance.
(5) What was the law that god gave man in this period of sinless nature? What was the purpose of it?
The law in this age of sinless nature was that they should not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. (Gen
2:17). God had forbidden this because he knew that without spiritual maturity, if they ate of the tree of knowledge and evil they
would die spiritually.
(6) What are the statements of Satan who questioned Gods moral stand?
The following are the statements of the Serpent that question the moral status of God: 1. Doubting Gods love. God has really
blocked some of the blessings in our life. 2. Doubting God goodness. Has god really told you this? This creates a doubt about
gods goodness. 3.Doubting Gods Holiness. Satan guaranteed that they would not die. He also promised that their eyes would
be opened. This created a doubt about the holiness of god.
(7) How did man fail in his test ?
Man disbelieved the true word of God and believed satans lying words (misleading statements) , yeilded to the temptation of lust
of flesh, lust of the eye and pride of life and ate the forbidden furit [ She found the forbidden fruit was good for food (the lust of
flesh), was pleasant to the eyes (Lust of the eyes), to be desired to make one wise (the pride of life). (Gen 3:6). For all that is
in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.(1Jn 2:16)]
Thus, man came under the captivity of the first sin of disobedience. Man, who was in charge of the earth immediately died
spiritually.
(8) What was the result of mans fall?
1. The humans lost the glory of God that was within him. He also lost the state of being the image of god. (Gen 3:7, Rom
3:23).
2. Man died spiritually. (Gen 2:17, Rom 5:12, Eph 2:1). Thus, he lost the companionship of God.
3. The humans were cast out of the Garden of Eden. (Gen 3:16-19). Because he was a sinner, man was cast out of the
paradise of Eden, which was meant for those who were without sin.
4. Because of the sin, the humans were cursed to have disease, have trials, bring forth children with pain and to live on the
hard work, which he would have to under stress. (Gen 3:23-24).
5. Human sin brought curse on the generations to come. (Gen 3:17, John3: 12). The future generations stated repeating the
mistakes of Adam and Eve.
6. Physical death ensued. (Gen 5:5, Rom 5:18).
(9) What were the components of the process of redemption that God gave the man who sinned?
The first step in the process of redemption was the promise itself. The promise was that ..I will put enmity between thee and
the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.(Gen 3:15). Jesus Christ
was born as a descendant of Adam and by his death on Calvary he destroyed the schemes of Satan and delivered those who
were under the fear of death. (Heb 2:14, Gal 4:4, 2cor 5:21). From the book of Genesis to the book of Malachi, there are many

prophecies to this effect. In the end in the fullness of time, Jesus Christ the promised son was born to the Virgin Mary. (Matt
16:18, 12:29).
The second step in the process of redemption was the sacrifice. To wipe away the sins of Adam an animal was sacrificed. We
can see many examples of animal sacrifices for the atonement of sins in the Old Testament. But we see that the laws of the Old
Testament justify nobody. So the prophets had foretold the people that god would take the form of man. The birth of Jesus
Christ was for the salvation from sins. (Mat 1:21). After the second coming of Jesus Christ, we are going to enter a period of
sinless nature again. We will once again bear the glory of god that Adam lost in the Garden of Eden.

he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. (NKJV)
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that
he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. (KJV)

begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.. Come, let Us go down and
there confuse their language, that they may not understand one anothers speech. (NKJV)

do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.Go to, let us go
down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. (KJV)
