Blended Learning Lesson Planning Form

Grade: 9-12

Unit: Honors Chemistry

Dates: 11/4

Teacher: Underwood

Standard(s):

C-5.1 Explain the effects of the intermolecular forces on the different phases of matter.
C-5.2 Explain the behaviors of gas; the relationship among pressure, volume, and
temperature; and the significance of the Kelvin (absolute temperature) scale, using the kinetic molecular theory as a model.
C-5.3 Apply the gas laws to problems concerning changes in pressure, volume, or temperature
(including Charless law, Boyles law, and the combined gas law).

Essential Question/ Daily Learning Target:

Differentiate between the Combined Gas Law and the Ideal Gas Law and apply each as necessary

Opening/ Direct Instruction:

Discussion on Prior Knowledge of Phase Changes and what determines a substance to be a gas.

Small Group Differentiated Instruction: (teacher

led, specific mini-lesson, targeted groups):

Group 1- Students will be creating gases and describing the process in a lab setting with teacher
Supervision and Guidance and explanation of the gas laws.

Collaborative/ Individual Work: (writings,

readings, project work)

Group 2-Students will be working on practicing Gas Law worksheet with a partner.

Direct Independent Technology Work: (practice

and review of concepts using digital content)

Group 3-Students will use explorelearning.com to work on an online simulation model on Charles
Law and Boyles Law.

Grouping: How will students be grouped? Data?

(MAP, Compass, USA Test, Aleks, etc.)

Data has come from previous performance and MAP data.

Formative Assessments: Reflection, Exit Ticket,

Journal, Think Pair Share

Students will create a post on Google Classroom. Describe characteristics of gases.

Closure/ Homework:

Do the five assessment questions on Explore Learning Gizmo Phase Changes.
