Bladetype
Bladefuses(alsocalledspadeorpluginfuses),withaplasticbodyandtwoprongsthatfitintosockets,aremostlyusedinautomobiles.Eachfuseis
printedwiththeratedcurrentinamperesonthetop.Thesetypesoffusescomeinsixdifferentphysicaldimensions:
micro2
micro3
lowprofilemini(APS),
mini(APM/ATM)
regular(APR/ATC/ATO/ATS)
maxi(APX)heavyduty.
Unofficially,theAPSfuseissometimescalled"micro"sincethetermmeanssmallerthanmini,butrecentlyfusesusingthemicronamehavebeen
released.Regularbladetypefuses,alsoknownasstandardfuses,weredevelopedin1976forlowvoltageuseinmotorvehicles.Theminifuseswere
developedinthe1990s.Bladetypefusescanbemountedinfuseblocks,inlinefuseholders,orfuseclips.TheATCfusehasafuseelementthatis
closedorsealedinsidetheplastichousingandtheATOfusehasafuseelementthatisopenorexposedonthebottomofthefusebetweentheblades.

Limiterfusesconsistofametalstripfromalockplate,forcurrentsover40amperes.Frequently,theseareusedincloseproximitytostarterbatteryfuse
boxes.Theyareusedalsoinelectricvehicles,e.g.,inforklifttrucks.Becausestripfusesrequiretheuseoftoolsforreplacementtheyaretherefore
legallyconsiderednonserviceablecomponentsforendusers.
