Savanna.NET Warehouse Execution System

With increased emphasis on automation, todays manufacturers and distributors
are realizing the importance of software applications in running their operations
as efficiently as possible.
Savanna.NET Warehouse Execution System
(WES) is a modular warehousing software solution
providing unparalleled internal control of all material
flows and order picking. As a two-in-one solution,
Savanna.NET WES is a tightly integrated

One System, Multiple Benefits

Warehouse Management System (WMS) and

Warehouse Control System (WCS) providing
maximum system flexibility, and unprecedented
user-friendliness for all computer literacy levels.

Based on Microsoft C# and .NET technologies,

Savanna.NET offers a broad spectrum of interfaces
to various ERP systems, web interfaces and PLC
systems. This high-level of integration is certified by
Microsoft, as Westfalia is a Certified Gold Partner.
With its flexible, modular structure, Savanna.NET
enables companies of all sizes to select only the
modules and functionality they need to handle their
warehousing processes. This allows you to purchase
a single system and turn on the functionality you need.
Savanna.NET WES supports both conventional and
automated warehouses.

Savanna.NET Functionalities

Inbound Order (Receiving) Processing

Manage inventory transfers between physically separate

locations
Manage inbound purchase orders and customer returns
Blind receiving
Directed and non-directed put-away to automation or
conventional locations
Handheld, fork truck mounted and/or desktop receiving

Item/SKU and Inventory Management

Management of all Items/SKUs and lots within the system

Data is stored for each Item/SKU in the system.
Operators can easily create a profile for each SKU, entering a series of default data per SKU (e.g. quantity
per pallet, pallet type, FIFO window, etc.)
Inventory may also be managed via a flexible lot tracking system. The system supports client-driven lot IDs
or a simple expiration date
Storage and retrieval characteristics may be configured by lot and item and/or by item category, providing
more control over storage patterns
Inventory can also be stored in various units of measure (UOM). Each UOM is further defined by weight
and/or quantity
Inventory data may be entered manually or received electronically from a customer host system via a
standard host interface

Pallet Management

Support of management of multiple pallet types and dimensions.

Pallet management tracks individual pallet inventory.
Pallets are assigned a unique ID and data such as: SKU, lot, product / expiration date, pallet location and
pallet lock (if applicable). This information is associated to the pallet.
Operators have the option of locking pallets or placing them in quarantine. An expiration date may be
entered for the pallet quarantine.
Flexible pallet configuration allows multiple items and lots (e.g. expiration or production date) to be stored
on one pallet.

Storage Management

Provides management of all rack storage locations in the system, current space allocations, and
management of item zoning for storage optimization.
Sophisticated storage algorithms to determine the best location and sophisticated retrieval algorithms to
identify which product meets the required criteria for product selection.
Operator initiated inventory comparisons verify that data has been properly updated and ensure
congruency between the PLC and the WMS.

Interface to Automation
Savanna.NET eliminates the need for a WMS-WCS interface with its integrated system. This two-in-one
method utilizes one single system to perform the tasks of both a WMS and a WCS simplifying communication
and controls - exchanges are not complicated by duplicated data or controls. Examples of this control include,
but are not limited to:

PLCs (conveyor, robotic, S/RM, etc.) The WMS communicates instructions to the Programmable Logic
Controllers (PLCs), which in turn, send instructions for machines to move, store or retrieve product.
Printers The WMS integrates with printers, sending information for barcode labels and shipping labels.
The systems work together to print the labels based on certain cues from the WMS and PLCs.
Bar Code Readers / Scanners Barcode readers and scanners are configured for a particular barcode
format. Operators can scan the barcode to enter the pallet / order into the system or locate product.

Management and visibility of every automated device in the system interfaced with Savanna.NET, as well as
their current states and real-time state information about devices is quickly and easily retrieved from the system. Information regarding the current state of each piece of equipment, as well as activities within the system,
allows the operator to quickly analyze any problematic areas and provides a method for fault recovery utilizing
the Westfalia System Monitoring and Reporting Toolset (S.M.A.R.T.) product suite.

Scheduler

Service to schedule events to occur within the system.

Primarily used to schedule routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning data tables and moving data to a
history (archiving) database.
Other routine events, such as re-warehousing, may also be organized and controlled via this tool.
