Support for NVBU Server and NVBU SmartClient limited to the following restrictions:
Storage devices directly attached to an ESX Server are not supported. This includes both direct-attached SCSI devices as well as devices on
Fibre Channel that are exposed to the virtual machine through a RAW device mapping.
Devices connected through iSCSI are supported.
Virtual machine hosting the NVBU Server must be assigned a sufficient resource reservation in its own Resource Pool. NetVault: Backup Servers
that have to compete for resources cannot be supported.
VMware HA and vMotion are supported for the virtual machine hosting the NetVault: Backup Server. However, due to variability in timings,
BakBone cannot guarantee successful completion of running backup jobs during a migration.
NetVault: SmartDisk does not support installation on a virtual machine; therefore NVSD cannot be installed on a NVBU Server or SmartClient
that is running in a VMware VM.
BakBone Support may require reproduction of an issue in a non-virtualized environment in cases where it suspects an issue with the underlying
virtualization infrastructure.
Support limited to installing NVBU Client inside the Virtual Machine. Installing the NVBU Client on the physical machine hosting the virtual
machines and using the NVBU File System Plugin on the physical machine to perform image level backups of the virtual machine is not supported.
Using the NVBU File System Plugin on the physical machine to perform image level backups of the virtual machine is not supported. Installing the
Hyper-V or VMware Plugin on the physical machine to perform image level backups of the virtual machine is required.
Host OS support includes RHEL 5.4-5.6/6.x
