About the Laboratory Course

General Course Objectives:
To utilize the principles of Unit Operations in solving practical
laboratory problems.
To develop sound judgment in interpreting and correlating
experimental data
To train the students to translate experimental data and their
appropriate interpretation into a well-written technical report.
To develop initiative, resourcefulness and leadership among
students by requiring them to assume full responsibility in solving
laboratory problems assigned to them.
To develop safety consciousness among students at all times
while working under optimum level of productivity inside the
laboratory.

Course Code: ChE 424L

Course Title: Chemical Engineering Laboratory 1
Credit: 1 unit(3 lab hours per week)
Pre-requisite: ChE 411 and ChE 412
Course Description:
ChE 424L is a fundamental laboratory course in chemical
engineering. It covers the applications of the theories of fluid flow and
mass transfer. Activities are focused on laboratory study and investigation
of unit operations principles with certain operating conditions. It also
involves the investigation of the operating characteristics and efficiency of
the pieces of equipment utilized in carrying out these operations. It
consists of the application of the concepts of thermodynamics,
mathematics (especially statistics), physics and physical chemistry as aids
to the solution of the unitUST operations
