CONCLUSION

The conclusion that can be make from this experiment is only based on the theory of the
experiment this is because there is no comparison of different temperature with gas diffusion
coefficient. According to the theory of the experiment which as the temperature is increase,
the gas diffusion also increase. Acetone evaporates into surrounding air and the vapor
concentration slowly decreased from high to low concentration. The molecules moves from
capillary tube to surrounding air due to driving forces. In this experiment the temperature
used is 50oC and the diffusivity obtained is 4.7998 10^-6 m2/ s. The graph is plotted from
the data obtained but the data shown to deviate variedly. A linear graph cannot be obtained
and the trend line in the graph has been made in order to find the gradient or slope.
RECOMMENDATION
There are some recommendation for this experiment so that the same mistake would not
happen again. Firstly, before start the experiment, the apparatus must be cleaned so that no
react will happened between impurities and the solution used. Checked all the apparatus such
as microscope and air pump whether it work or not to avoid any mistake during the
experiment. Secondly, avoid parallax error during doing the experiment. Parallax error
usually occur when taking the reading from the vernier scale for the level of acetone, the data
obtained will effect the calculation and the graph plotting. To avoid parallax error eyes must
be perpendicular to the scale while taking the reading and the level of meniscus must be
observed correctly.
Next, innacurate time relay may causes human error due to lack of focus while conducting
the experiment. To avoid this error happen, stay focus and alert during the experiment so that
every reading that taken at certain time is taken correctly. Besides, to get more accurate
result, the experiment must be repeated twice for each set of temperature if there is enough
time. The water bath must be changed when start a new set of temperature so that it would
not effect the reading for the new temperature.
