CHECK ITEMS AND POINTS

(1) Process P&ID shall be checked as per TWC1-1211-105E P&ID


Screening Meeting (Design of Rotating Machinery).
(2) Plant plot plan shall be checked as per TWC1-1211-104E Plot Plan
Screening Meeting (Design of Rotating Machinery).
(3) Motor schedule: All items shall be correctly listed. All data shall
conform to ELECTRICAL LOAD LIST informed by Rotating Group. Any
changes to above shall be correctly reflected. - Scope of motor supply (by vendor
or by purchaser) shall be correctly reflected.
(4) Single line diagram -- All items shall be correctly listed. - All items which
require emergency power supply shall be correctly listed. Pay particular attention to
the requirements on turning device and seal/lube oil pumps. - Supplier of e-motor
shall be correctly specified.
(5) Foundation drawing - Foundation size / height / shape shall be appropriate Anchor box location and shape shall conform to vendor information. - Loading
data shall conform to vendor information, For vertical barrel pumps which
require cold insulation, required space for insulation shall be considered. ' Grouting shall be considered as per Rotating Group instruction.
(6) Piping material specification Flanges etc. shall conform to project
requirement. - Lube oil / seal gas piping shall be included, if applicable., Pipe
schedule etc. shall conform to API 614 requirements, if applicable. Piping
specification for leak steam line, balance lfcak line etc. shall be included, if
applicable.

(7) Interlock block diagram


- Interlocking function shown in vendor P&ID and vendor logic
diagram shall exist in the Interlock block diagram.
- Each trip / auto-start i start-permissives shall be correctly reflected.
- Redundancy requirements shall be correctly reflected.
- Location of annuciators for interlock functions shall be correctly
reflected.
(8) Plot plan (e.g. Plot plan for compressor building)
Foundation shape and height shall be planned taking into
consideration of pipe routing.
- Maintenance space shall be ensured.
- Valves shall be at operable location.
- Anchor bolt type (and insert plate if applicable) shall be correctly
reflected! '
- Crane projection area shall be checked whether appropriate.
- If mobile crane is considered, proper access shall be considered.
(9) Piping drawing
- Required straight length shall be considered.
- Required spools for maintenance shall be considered.
- Location of valves and associate gauges which require urgent
operation during emergency shall be adequate.
- Vent and drain for pipe shall be proper.
- Requirements in P&ID, such as NO POCKET, SLOPED, MIN.
LENGTH, shall be conformed to.

CHECK ITEMS AND POINTS


(1) Coordination meeting with other disciplines shall be done as per the
following TWCs: - Instrument group: TWC1-1211-102E - Electric
group: TWC 1-1211-103E - Piping & Civil groups: TWC1-1211-101E

(2) Screening meeting shall be done as per the following TWCs: - P&ID
screening meeting: TWC1-1211-105E - Plot plan screening meeting:
TWC1-1211-104E

(3) Following data for e-motors shall be provided to Electric group: ELECTRIC LOAD LIST - Motor coupling half requirements - Motor
delivery, date & place. Whether equipment vendor will mount the motor
shall also be checked. - Start-torque curve / GD2 / motor shaft
requirements, necessity of mounting plates, thrust load for vertical pumps.
- Necessity of emergency power.
(4) Check following data for e-motor: - Motor bearing type. If sleeve
bearing is applied, application of limited end float coupling. - Lube oil
type / amount / pressure / temperature requirements, if applicable. ' Scope of lube oil supply / return line, if applicable. - Speed range,
control method and necessity of speed pick-up for variable speed drive
motor. - Data for torsional analysis, if needed.

(5) Provide data sheet, performance curve & P&ID to Process Group and
inform the following design data:
- Range of pressure / temperature / turndown
- Maximum operation pressure which affects the downstream pipe
and equipment.
- Guarantee figures.

- Pump NPSHA and min. flow rate.


- Control method.
- Compressor anti-surge system.
- Piping and instrument connection.
- Interlock logic.
- Required utility condition and amount.
(6) Provide outline drawings, piping drawings, P&IDs to Piping Group and
inform the following design data:
- General arrangement and pipe layout.
- Valve and instrument panel location.
- Maintenance space.
- Min. straight pipe length;
- Nozzle allowable force & moment.
- Strainer mesh size.

- Line spec & line no. in contractors P&ID, which shall be provided
byToyo.
- Lines which require insulation and/or heat tracing.
(7) Provide GA drawing to Piping Group and Civil Group and inform the
following design data:
- Foundation drawing with loading data. If required by Civil Group,
provide dynamic load as well.
- Special grout requirement such as epoxy grouting.
- Anchor bolt size and shape.
- Maintenance weight.
- Vibration measures, if any, for table top installed equipment.
. (8) Provide following data to Instrument Group:
- Instrument Specification including instrument manufacturer name.
- Instrument location and its hazardous area.
- Instrument connection (size / threading etc.)
- Instrument outline drawing for those instruments mounted on
Toyos gauge board.
- Interlock logic diagram and set point list
- Failure action of switches and control valves. ;
(9) For reciprocating compressors, obtain .the latest P&IDs from Process
Group and the pipe isometric drawing from Piping Group for pulsation
analysis. After receiving vendor's report, make sure to inform the
necessary modification to Process group and Piping group.
(10) Provide noise data to Applied Analysis Group.
(11) Provide all the necessary information to Inspection Group.

(26) Check if suction specific speed is 1900 (rpm,m3/m,m) or


smaller for impellers with no inducer or 3000 or smaller for
the impeller with an inducer.
(27) Mechanical Seals:
- Check if type of mechanical seals is in compliance with the
inquiry spec, and applicable standards.
- Check if face materials are properly selected according to
applicable standards and vendors past experience. Especially
both faces of tungsten carbide or silicon carbide are to be
selected for caustic or slurry services.
- Check if the sealing pressure is positive in any operating
cases. Otherwise, check the protection for the seal against
vacuum pressure.


(28) Auxiliary Piping
- Check if seal piping plan is coincident with type of
mechanical seals selected.
- Check if materials of process piping are equal to or better
than case material.
- Check if cooling water piping is planned as per requirement
of cooling for bearing housings, seal cooling inserts,
pedestal cooling and so on.
- Check if seal quenching is properly appointed for such
services as heavy/crude oil, solidified liquid, caustic service,
ammonium solution, vacuum service and so on.
- Check if the external flushing sources, if any, are available
in such pressure as being supplied suitably to seals or
wearing rings without being vaporized.
- Check if the balance line (chamber), if available, is sized
properly so that the chamber pressure is within the max.
allowable pressure with leakage flow appointed by vendor.

- Chock if vent and drain system is as appointed in PO
conditions and is compatible with process P & ID.

- Check if viscosity correction is done correctly as per Hydraulic
Institute Standard for high viscous service.

Check if the curve is continuously rising to shutoff.

- Confirm that the best efficiency point is beyond normal


operating point
- Confirm that the pumps subject to parallel operation have 110
to 120 % of rated head at shutoff.
- Check if larger sized pumps suffer potentially from the
incipient cavitation.

- Verify with the curve that the max, working pressure is


correctly designated in the data sheet

(20) Check if NPSHR is smaller than NPSHA appointed. Pump inlet
acceleration head is to be included in NPSHR, when it cannot
be ignored.
(21) For larger sized pumps, calculate inlet and outlet acceleration
heads and check if they are within a suitable operating range.
(22) Check pump rated BHP according to the equation using rated
flow, differential pressure and pump efficiency designated by
vendor.

applicable.
(7) Check if a drain pan or rim is provided as per the applicable standards and/or

1. Check if all data specified by Vendor are coincident with

2. Check if all data are filled in by Vendor in accordance
with Purchasers instruction.
3. Check if performance data specified by Vendor are in good
conformity to the figures calculated by means of the TEC
CALCULATION (RDB) SYSTEM and if they are within the
allowable range as inquired and/or ordered.
4. Check if the rated speed of the compressor driven by an
induction motor is decided taking into consideration of
motor speed-slip at the expected torque.
5. Ensure that the maximum continuous speed corresponds to
105% of the compressor rated speed for a variable speed
drive.
6. Ensure that the rated output of the driving system is
specified to be at least 110% of the compressor rated BHP
including all power transmission loss.
7. Ensure that the guaranteed figures such as BHP and the
turndown range are in compliance with PO conditions.
Check if any gas leakage to outside of the compressor
system and leakage at division wall for back to back
impeller arrangement are accounted into Vendors design of
the compressor-performance.

control method designated is coincident with the process

10. Ensure that the operating speed range (rpm) is specified

including auxiliary equipment, service of machines and
auxiliary equipment, and tag numbers are correctly presented
in the diagram.
3. Check if schematic systems for lube oil, seal oil and
buffer gas are designed according to the applicable spec,
and standards.
.4. Check if vendors scope of supply are consistent with
purchase conditions.
5. Check if all process, oil, and utility services required
for the subject equipment are represented in the diagrams.
6. Check if the equipment and train arrangement is
representative of the actual one referring to the general
layout drawing.
7. Put Purchasers P & ID No. at each connection of
Purchasers piping and wiring.
8. Check if line size, service, spec, and the number are
properly designated according to piping material spec, and
instruction given by Purchaser or Vendor.
9. Check that line sizes of 1-1/4, 2-1/2, 3-1/2, 5, 7 and 9

check if they meet with Purchasers P& I Diagrams and

appointed taking into consideration start-up and normal
operation.
13. Check if failure action of control valves and solenoid

emergency conditions.
14. Check if interlocking and annunciation systems are

subject equipment. Check if they are compatible with Process

21. Check if all outlets of steam condensate are provided
with a steam trap or a water seal and its bypass.
22. Check if proper treatments such as insulation and steam
trace for winterization and personal protection are
furnished on the equipment or piping.
23. Ensure that flammable or toxic gas is vented to safe
location, or proper disposal system such as a flare stack.
24. Check if all level indicators are of reflex type. Ensure
that the type of level transmitters are in compliance with
the applicable spec.

that
bearing
temperature
monitors
and
vibration/axial movement monitors are properly provided as
ordered.
26. Ensure that the redundancy of the instrumentation
complies with the applicable spec.
27. Check if stand-by cooler & filter are properly vented
during operating main units.
28. Check if oil reservoirs are grounded.
29. Check if outlets from the relief valves are vented to
safe location.
30. Check if oil reservoirs are furnished with nitrogen
purging, and a steam or electric heating device.
31. Check if a type of valve (butterfly, gate or globe) is
properly selected according to its use.
32. Check if each rotating equipment is provided with an
inlet strainer as required.
33. Check if the requirements of no pocket, the slope
(followed by the angle required for the slope), and minimum
straight length of suction and discharge piping from
connecting point are indicated.
34. Check if vents & drains from the equipment, and in the
piping are clearly shown, properly installed, safely
disposed of, and adequately treated with.
35. Check if requirements to Purchasers piping design such
as installing expansion bellows are sufficiently designated.
36. Check if al 1 revised parts are clearly marked and
identified.

---GENERAL LAYOUT DRAWINGS--TIME OF CHECK: Assigned engineers are to check applicable vendors prints according to this check
list at the time of checking the first issue of each vendor and are to report results of
checking when sending them back to the vendor.

CHECK ITEMS AND POINTS

1. Check if all requirements are filled up in the drawings


in accordance with Purchasers instructions.
2. Check if rotating directions are coincident with the data
sheets and a drawing of the drivers.
3. Check if maintenance spaces for all equipment are
properly indicated and appointed.
4. Check if foundation height is properly designed
considering the requirements, such as straight length of
main nozzles, piping route of lube oil line, etc., when
table top foundation is applied.
5. Check if the elevation of such equipment as an oil head
tank is properly designed and compatible with requirements
addressed.
6. Check if main connections with purchasers piping are
represented and marked with the identification number.
7. Check if 3 co-ordinates of main nozzle connections are
properly indicated.
Check if loading data, i. e. static & dynamic loads are
properly appointed. When they are appointed in a different
manner from Purchasers standard procedure or Vendors
proven practice, they should be subject to further mutual
discussion referring to the experts checking.
9. Check if vacuum force is indicated, when condensing
turbine is applied.

10. Check if maximum maintenance weight is indicated.


11. Finalize the configuration of foundation according to
information from a civil designer.
12. Check if opening areas of foundation are properly shown
and indicated, when orientations of main nozzle is downward.
13. Check if liners & shims supplied by Vendor are properly
shown.
14. Check if types of foundation bolts supplied by Vendor
are suitable for Purchasers foundation design.
15. Finalize the basic data required for maintenance cranes
such as height, weight, accessible area, etc., when the
cranes are provided.
16. Check if all leveling devices for baseplates and
requirements for grouting are properly designated.
