UP Law Aptitude Exam Schedule, Coverage,

and Requirements

may
take
the
UP
Law
Aptitude
Exam?
Anyone who has finished or is finishing at least a bachelors degree in the arts or sciences from a
recognized college or university is qualified to take the examination. For more details on the

is

the

coverage

of

the

UP

Law

Aptitude?

By the very name itself, the UP Law Aptitude Examination (UP LAE) is just another aptitude test. It
is not exactly a measure of your intelligence although it aims to determine if you have the basic
skills to handle the demands and pressures of law school. The exam usually covers the following
subjects:

Communication

b.

skills;

Reading

comprehension;

c.

Vocabulary;

d.

Critical

e.

Verbal

Thinking;
Reasoning;

f. Quantitative Reasoning.
In previous exams, the applicants encountered the following subjects in the UP LAE:
a.
English
(Communication
Skills,
Reading
Comprehension,
and Vocabulary);
b.
Mathematics
(Quantitative
Reasoning);
c.
Logical
Reasoning
(Critical
Thinking
and
Verbal
Reasoning);
d.
General
Information;
and
e. Abstract Reasoning.
Essay writing and interview were sometimes part of the UP Law admission process, and sometimes
not.

When
is
the
schedule
of
the
UP
Law
Aptitude
Exam?
The University of the Philippines College of Law usually announces the date of the exam and
releases the application forms in August or September. In the past, the UP LAE was scheduled on
the 3rd or 4th Sunday of November. With the shift of UPs academic calendar from June to August,
the UP LAE has been moved to the 1st Sunday of February.
4. How do I get an application form for the UP Law Aptitude Exam?

5. What do I need to do to pass the UP Law Aptitude Exam?
You need to have the right tools to aid you in your review. By review, we mean to refresh your
memory and re-study the lessons that you have already learned in the past.

If you would like to attend a review which summarizes all the covered subjects in a day or two, then
you can join the 1 Day or 2 Day UP LAE Review. The major difference between these two
programs is that the 2 Day UP LAE Review devotes one whole day to Mathematics.
If you would like to attend review classes with a group, and if you want to work on more drills and
exercises, then you can join the Full UP LAE Review. This is an 8-day / 64-hour review program
which discusses each subject in detail.
