2. As long as the lateral walls of the pulleys have the same dimensions, their alignment can
be verified by using a ruler as standard. It should touch the four points of the pulley and
assure the ideal alignment.
3. Verify the belts profile with the pulley grooves, according to instructions. Dual Duty
pulleys should always use A and SPA profile belts and so on. Use REXONs vbelt size
indicator to verify this.
4. When belts are used in a set, do not substitute only one at a time. Always substitute the
whole set because worn out belts used along with new belts might cause an overload on
the new ones. Never mix belts of different manufacturers: in each set, all belts must be of
the same brand.
5. When installing the belts on the pulleys, never force them against the pulley. Do not use
any tool or lever, as it might tear the envelope and/or the tensile cords, permanently
damaging the belt.
6. In general, the tension of the belt should be the smallest possible as long as it ensures
that the belt will work without skidding, considering the peak loads. During the first 48
hours of operation the tension should be monitored frequently. After this period,
whenever there is skidding, the belt should be retensioned. Undertensioning causes the
belt to skid and generates excessive heat which can damage the belts structural
components. Overtensioning can decrease the belts life span as well as that of the
whole system. (please refer to attached information sheet on the Rexon TensionRex
table)
7. Check the general condition of the bearings and the lubrication of the transmission
system. If necessary, replace the bearings before installing a new belt.
8. Leave adequate room for the belt to operate. Small or extremely confined spaces might
cause a system overheating and the decrease of the belts life span. If necessary,
provide forced ventilation for the system.
