QUESTION # 6-22: What would be the advantages and disadvantages to Jennifers


company of routinely administering honest tests to all its employees?
There are some positive advantages as well as some disadvantages of honesty test of employees
on regular basis. Advantages: Honesty test helps to identify thief in the company by focusing
mainly on employees behavior and do their symbolic assessment. Disadvantages: Honesty test
are controversial. It dont show an employees honesty and dishonesty that he is going to steal or
not, as this is not an exact science. In this way creation and implementation of honesty test is also
time consuming.
QUESTION # 6-23: Specifically, what other screening techniques could the company use to
screen out theft-prone and turnover prone employees, how exactly could these techniques
be used?
Step to reduce employees turnover in the company could be done if the companys each job
description include such aspects of the job that can help to predict which candidate is best for
different types of work activities. In this way, company will place right person for the right job
and chances of different incentives will be higher because of good performances by such
employees. Motivation and flexible work schedules is also a good way to maintain a happy and
productive work force which will create their stability in the company for long-term. In step to
screen out theft prone, a company should go for its employees background investigation first
before its hiring because it is a fine technique to eliminate future thieves. In order to avoid future
robs, a company can also rehire its previous employees having a good job performance in the
past, who also want to come back and join.
QUESTION # 6-24: How should her company terminate employees caught stealing and
what kind of procedure should be set up for handling reference calls about these employees
when they go to other companies looking for jobs?
Termination of employees for theft can only be done when there is any definite proof against
them under the inclusion of proper authorities. This step will also be a warning for the rest
employees that a company could take such strict actions and will not tolerate in case of such
attempt again by any other employee. The evidences which a company will gather with the help
of court and police etc against such dishonest employees can be useful in handling the reference
calls regarding such employees as well as in providing their future employers their truthful and
factual report.
