Aloha Kakou,
This letter is calling upon you to Cease and Desist in financing the Dallas-based
Energy Transfer Partners L.P. that is utilizing the loaned money youve provided to
compromise the Great Missouri River. This majestic river as well as the surrounding
lands is essential to life. Now, it is in danger of being altered, compromised, and possibly
irreparably polluted. This great river is the water source for all surrounding life that
depends upon it.
As an indigenous man and hereditary King of the Hawaiian Islands, the urgency of
this most important communications has dictated that I personally author this letter to
compel you to listen to the cries of the women, children and men who are protecting the
Great Missouri River from being compromised. These brave souls ask for no money or
fame. They are protectors, protectors lead by the Great Spirit of Creation. This is the
Standing Rock Sioux Nation. It is within their DNA as Indigenous people to stand up
and protect mother earth. It is their DNA that also courses through my blood as an
Indigenous man.
The seriousness before me is truly a matter of life and death. The environmental
issues regarding the Great Plains, of The Great Sioux Nations Treaty Territories
extends from the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and
Manitoba south through west central United States into West Texas. In the United
States, the Plains include parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana,
Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas are no longer
fiction but fact. The Missouri River is an invaluable resource and the Ogallala Aquifer is
one of the largest in the world see: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogallala_Aquifer

On August 25, 2016 a letter was sent to President Obama

http://www.ienearth.org/open-letter-to-president-obama-halt-construction-and-repealpermits-for-the-dakota-access-pipeline-project/
In this particular message, I want to focus on the 1,172-mile (1,885-km) pipeline,
being built by a group of companies led by Energy Transfer Partners L.P. who promised
the fastest and most direct route to bring Bakken shale oil from North Dakota to U.S.
Gulf Coast refineries. However, to get to their planned objective, they would have to go
through the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. That intrusion adds substantially to the major
issues that involve us physically, emotionally, spiritually and economically.
The Issues:
The Standing Rock Sioux tribe, whose reservation lies just south of the pipelines
argues that a leak or spill could be ruinous to the environment. They see the pipeline as a
major environmental and cultural threat. They say, and I agree, that the pipeline route
traverses ancestral lands which are not part of the reservation where their forebears
hunted, fished and were buried. They are the stewards of the lands with all things given
by the Great Spirit to them to manage, protect, enjoy, and love.
It is for these reasons that they are deeply worried about the catastrophic
environmental damage that will happen if the pipeline were to break near where it
crosses under the Missouri River. Thousands upon thousands of lives would be put at
risk. To them, all the creatures of creation, even the smallest of them, play a very
important role in the ecosystem of life. Case in point water. Water feeds the Lands and
all species of life to include the Human Family. The value of good healthy water is
invaluable and more precious than gold, silver, diamonds even oil.
To compromise the flow, health and integrity of the Great Missouri River is
tantamount to Armageddon as life of all species would be severely compromised if not
destroyed. Your banking philosophy speaks to a Code of Ethics. Your Code of Ethics
defines you and sets you apart as a Financial Institution that puts the lives and welfare of
the people and this planet before profits.

It is this high and moral philosophical attribute youve espoused which is the basis
for my asking you to CEASE and DESIST financing all energy corporations that would
further the destruction of the Earth and the lives and well-being of its people that depend
as you do, on WATER. I refer specifically to the Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners
L.P. Corporation.
The pipeline is a threat from a global survival perspective because global climate
change is manifesting all over the world. The pipeline is also a threat of immediate
impact from a spill.
Are pipelines safe?
Energy companies and their federal overseer, the Pipeline and Hazardous
Materials Safety Administration, promote the safety record of pipelines. Pipeline
companies say it is far safer to move oil and natural gas in an underground pipe than in
rail cars or trucks, which can crash and create huge fires.
But pipeline spills and ruptures occur regularly, sometimes in small leaks and
sometimes in catastrophic gushers. In 2013, a Tesoro Logistics pipeline in North Dakota
broke open and spilled 865,000 gallons of oil onto a farm. In 2010, an Enbridge Energy
pipeline dumped more than 843,000 gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River in
Michigan, resulting in a cleanup that lasted years and cost more than a billion dollars,
according to Inside Climate News.
In a 2012 examination of pipeline safety, ProPublica reported that more than half
of the countrys pipelines were at least 50 years old. Critics cited aging pipelines and
scant federal oversight as factors that put public health and the environment at severe
risk. We do not need the additional risk from the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In closing:
I have written to express not only my concerns but the concerns of the world.
Throughout the decades, the respect for and of the Native Americans have been nonexistent. They, like the Kingdom of Hawaii, have suffered broken promises evidenced by

Broken Treaties. These violations are well documented and cannot be disputed.
Human violations and genocidal attempts to exterminate the First Nations Peoples are
also well documented and now, we have the issues of polluting the Great Rivers funded
by your Bank.
It is time serious people come together to stop the old paradigm. The harsh reality
is before us. These are not marginal issues. We need people of good will and character
to stand in solidarity for the right cause and right reasons. This is the Right cause and
reason for you to act upon.
Therefore, a Cease and Desist order from you is in Order. Stop the funding and
fund projects that benefit our planet, and mankind in a way that is positive and
compliments the Great Mysteries Creation. Be part of that creation not its destructive
force.
I am prepared to fly to San Francisco and come to your office to talk with you for I
am certain that together we can find a good solution.
