FROM THE TEAM

Sublime

Summer Sailing

Greetings all , and thank you for joining us in a

very important milestone, as we celebrate our first
year of print, with this being our sixth bi-monthly
issue of Hadag magazine!
We decided to launch this time last year in the
quiet summer months to test the water and
gather feedback on how the market and audiences
responded to it before the autumn/winter boating
season got underway, and that feedback resulted
in the magazine youre looking at today.
And we thought that these months would
be quiet for us, but the opposite has been
true. As we travelled down to Muscat for
our Oman-focused issue, we found plenty
of activity down there, with Oman Sail
in full swing as their international sailing
teams compete in summer events across
Europe, and their sailing schools still
training Omani youth for potential
future Olympic glory.
However, we also found plenty of
activity in the marinas too, with
boating, fishing, wakeboarding and
more still going on in earnest. This is
largely due to Omans unique ocean
climate, which is cooled by currents
and breezes from the Indian Ocean,
meaning that out on the water
temperatures can be pleasant even in
the summer months.
We were to find this out for ourselves,
when we embarked on a sailing cruise
of the stunning Dimaniyat Islands,
where we spent a blissful day fishing,
swimming and snorkelling in the cool
waters of the Sea of Oman. Sublime!
All in all, a busy couple of
months.
We hope you enjoy!

recently unveiled the first of its Targa 48 line to
feature their brand new Capri interiors scheme
throughout. This latest incarnation of the Targa

opposed to the retractable hard top Targa 48

soothing taupe, white and cream colourways
with duck egg blue hues, accentuating the

The new look interior makes an impact on
the boats ambience, which is further enhanced
by gloss veneers replacing fabric panels and
luxurious touches, such as leather bound and
stitched handrails.
Fairlines new interiors scheme was launched
to great acclaim at the London Boat Show
2015. It features four design themes: Amalfi
(mustard and teal); Capri (neutral); Hamptons
(reds); and St Tropez (blues). Each boasts its
own distinctive colour palette designed to evoke
the experience and sensation of one of the
worlds best-loved boating destinations, and
inspired by the local architecture, scenery and
environment.
The Capri collection reflects the spectacular
coastal scenery and the freshness of the
Mediterranean breeze, inspiring a design rich in
textures with a neutral colour palette, explains

It boasts features
previously only
seen in luxury cars.

Though ostensibly very different,

luxury automobiles and yachts go hand in
hand when it comes to the lifestyles of the
fabulously wealthy. Both are objects of desire,
playthings of the rich and famous, and both
are luxury modes of transport.
Any billionaire worth their salt has a mega
yacht befitting their status, and they will be
arriving at the marina in an equally suitable
limousine or supercar.
So, its only natural that the two worlds would
come together to create a stunning masterpiece
of design and engineering such as this, the
Quintessence AM37.
The AM37 is the result of a collaboration
between Dutch yacht builder Quintessence
Yachts, renowned studio Mulder Design, and
the iconic British sports car brand Aston
Martin.
This is an extremely close partnership, which
has seen Quintessence establish a dedicated
facility in UK to build the AM37, in order to
maintain the British pedigree of Aston Martin.
It is a very recent project that is actually still
in development, although it is reaching the
final stages, according to Quintessence Yachts
CEO, Mariella Mengozzi, who spoke to Hadag

last month. QY is currently producing the

first prototype, that will be presented in
September 2015. The first production units
will be delivered by the end of this year.
Mengozzi also explained to us that there
is more to come from the collaboration
with Aston Martin. The recognisable style
of the AM37 will in the near future be
seen in a wide range of top quality Aston
Martin speedboats, to fulfil different clients
demands. Bigger sizes will be developed
to experience long cruises in the timeless
Aston Martin style.
The AM37 comes in two forms: the
standard AM37 S sports variant with a top
speed of 60 knots, and the more luxurious
GT cruiser AM37, with a top speed of
around 50 knots.
Both of them are utter marvels, with
Aston Martin detailing throughout, from the
logo on the swimming deck to the Aston
Martin steering wheel, as well as a raft of
technology formerly only seen in the most
luxurious of automobiles, such as interactive
voice control and activation, a fully HDintegrated touch screen with navigation and
multimedia system, and remote controlled
functions.
The AM37 can be identified as a dayout
fast cruiser, which also offers enhanced
comfort with its wide interior featuring
sofa/double bed, galley and restroom with
shower, explains Mengozzi.
Look out for more news on these fantastic
boats later in the year.

When Two

Worlds Collide
Following on from our feature on the Quintessence AM37, here we
take a further look at the collaborations between the world of luxury
automobiles and that of the yachting industry, often with spectacular
results.

1- Silver Arrows Marine Arrow460 Granturismo

Mercedes wade into the fray with this, the

Arrow460, by Silver Arrows Marine. Like
Aston Martin, this is a direct collaboration
with Mercedes, rather than just a loose brand
association. In fact, Mercedes-Benzs own
design team were involved in the design of
this stunning superyacht tender, which was
directly inspired by Mercedes automobiles.
It has therefore fittingly been dubbed the S
Class of the seas, and boasts luxury to suit
this moniker.
However, apart from announcements of
some successful sea trials of the hull in 2012
and some nice renderings, we can find little
news of the development of this beautiful
boat, even from the companys website, so it
remains to be seen whether this concept will
ever see the light of day!

2- The Lamborghini Yacht

Lamborghini + yacht Two words which, when

combined, should cause excitement to anyone
with an interest in all things petrol powered, and
this design by Mauro Lecchi doesnt disappoint.
The Lamborghini Yacht is a luxury cruiser with
a very modern, angular design boasting lines
inspired by the car brands latest models such
as the Aventador and Reventon which you can
clearly see when viewing its profile. It boasts
luxurious lounge areas fore and aft, and a cabin
with a large overhead sunroof, and it all comes
together to create one stunning yacht concept.
Unfortunately, at this stage, it is just that a
design concept, and we havent come across any
news to tell us otherwise. However, it only takes
one billionaire to take an interest, and we could
see this beauty on the water one day

3- Cigarette Racing AMG Series

This is an interesting one, because these

boats share a very similar heritage to
American stock car racing. Stock cars have
their roots in high-powered vehicles used to
transport illegal contraband whose owners
began to race each other.
Cigarette boats were high-powered boats
with a long, narrow platform and heavy
planing hull that were also used to smuggle
contraband to the US coastline during
Prohibition which were eventually turned to
racing.
Cigarette Racing is a company that rose
to prominence through their success in
these racing series, but now produces highperformance pleasure craft.
Through a collaboration with Mercedes
AMG, Cigarette Racing produce their AMG
series. Truly the GTs of the seas, they are
comfortable and high-thrills but low-frills
boats that offer seating for passengers and a
premium sound system, but little else.
Their fastest, the 1550hp AMG Marauder
50 GT S can travel at an estimated 117 knots,
or 135mph, which is unbelievably fast for a
private speedboat.

4- Fearless Yachts by Porsche Design

The Porsche Design studio have turned

their talented hands to designing just
about anything, from watches and mobile
phones to sheesha pipes, and in this case,
speedboats. And theyve done a pretty good
job too, as you can see from these images.
First unveiled back in 2007, it interestingly
boasts a Dodge Viper V10 which has been
redesigned and tweaked by Porsche to
produce an output of 550hp, allowing for a
top speed of around 70 knots.
The Fearless 28 by Porsche Design boasts
a twin-step deep V carbon-fibre reinforced
hull, and teak wood decking enhancing the
Porsche-inspired design of the passenger
cabin.

The
Monaco

Yacht Show

The most prestigious and glamorous yacht show in the

world celebrates a quarter of a century this September
in the ultra-exclusive French principality of Monaco.

Twenty five years ago, the Principality of Monaco had no flagship

yachting event of its own, despite already being the international meeting point
for large yacht owners and their broker agents who arrived in Port Hercules to
discuss sale, charter and refitting. The local authorities soon realised they should
develop yacht business activities around this iconic location.
Those who attended the very first edition of the Monaco Yacht Show in 1991
recall that the entire event was staged along Quai des Etats-Unis with around
fifty exhibiting companies, mainly from Monaco and the French Riviera eager to
show their wares. Just a handful of foreign companies took stands and 30 yachts
whose average length was just 32 metres were made available to those who
sought to inspect them.
Two plus decades later, the same Monaco-based yachting businesses have
grown as the Show developed into the worlds premier superyacht event. Few
can argue that Monaco is now the world hub of the superyacht industry and the
jewel in the industrys crown is undoubtedly the Principalitys annual yachting
show.
This September, the Monaco Yacht Show will deliver its largest ever event
unveiling a record-breaking showcase of 121 spectacular superyachts afloat. The
expected average size of these yachts this year exceeds 47 metres. Five hundred
exhibiting companies will display their most innovative, tailor-made products
and services lying at the pinnacle of luxury yachting.
With extended capacity for VIP visitors and exhibitors, and more space for
bigger yachts, this years show is going to be the most impressive in the events
history!
The Majesty 135
The latest megayacht from the UAEs Gulf
Craft will be making a regal appearance at
the yacht show. Though not the biggest in the
companys fleet, the Majesty 155 is already
spoken for, so the second biggest will have to
suffice. Oh well

An event for all the family to enjoy, the

Oman Sail

Flying the Flag

of the Sultanate

Competing internationally, establishing the countrys brand globally, developing
tourism and creating jobs Oman Sail are far busier than we initially thought

...

As we arrived at the Oman Sail offices on The

Wave in Muscat, Oman, it became clear to us that this was
more than just a sailing club. A bustling, expansive office
spanning two floors with many different departments,
we could see a level of activity that spoke of big things
happening even in the usually quiet summer months.
It turns out we werent wrong, as we spoke to Bryan
Winning, Business Development Director at Oman Sail.
We were set up in 2009, with the support of HM Sultan
Qaboos, and our purpose is using the power of sport
for the development of the Omani people, and that goes
across all areas of our business, says Bryan.
He goes on to explain that the organisations scope
covers three main areas, which are: tourism development
and promoting Oman as a destination; competitive
sailing and engaging the youth of Oman in the sport; and
commercial development of the marine leisure sector.
Sailing is obviously at the heart of everything they do,
and this can be seen most prominently with their offshore
and inshore racing teams competing at prestigious
tournaments around the world, including Cowes in the
UK, the Bullitt GC32 Cup in Kiel, Germany, and the
Extreme Sailing Series.
The Extreme series boasts two Omani teams, Oman
Air and The Wave, both of which are enjoying impressive
amounts of success, with Oman Air dominating leader
boards, and The Wave following closely behind.
Theres a very rich maritime heritage here, and Oman
has recognised sailing as a good mechanism to promote
the country, much like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi have
done with Formula One, explains Bryan. These are
high profile sailing events, with the boats acting as huge
floating billboards promoting Oman as a destination, and
at each of those events, there are hundreds of thousands
of affluent spectators who are the perfect target market
for the Ministry of Tourism. At these events we create
an Omani experience, we build a tent, we have Omani
representatives in national dress, and they greet visitors
with traditional delicacies as they find out more about what
the country has to offer.
Outside of these international competitions, Oman Sail
has its own youth programme with four training schools
along the coast, and an Olympic Programme with strong
ambitions on medals and glory.
The youth programme works in partnership with the

kids to the sailing academies, where theyre able
to have a go at the sport, and those who show
promise are allowed to become a permanent
part of the programme with a view to scouting
for talent for their Olympic Programme. Weve
very openly stated that we will participate in the
Olympics in 2020, and were aiming for a medal
in 2024, says Bryan.
And it seems theyre well on their way too.
So far, weve had the first girl the in GCC
championships, and weve had medals for both
girls and boys. Weve created the first Arab
all-female sailing team, who have competed
in Sailing Arabia the tour and various other
competitions around the world. One of our girls,
Raiya Al Habsi, was nominated for the Rolex
Sailor of the Year last year, the first Arab to be
nominated!
The final important role of the organisation is
the commercial aspect, nurturing new businesses,
training and development of Omani youth, and
creating job opportunities in the industry.
We act as an incubator for SMEs in the
marine leisure sector. Weve set up several
business, charter, diving, etc., and were training
Omanis to operate marinas. Were also using our
experience of creating high-performance sports
teams to prepare young Omanis for competitive
markets. Were using sailing, diving and these
other activities to actually develop other skills,
like how to overcome challenges, team work,
communication skills, and improve confidence
and self-leadership skills.
The results look extremely promising, with
several successful small businesses already
operating within the marina, and a team of
friendly, professional and skilled Omanis running
the sailing operations, who we were soon to meet
on our cruise to the Dimaniyat Islands which
you can read about later in this issue.
Overall, Oman Sail are doing incredibly
important work for the country, and if youre
visiting Oman, we thoroughly recommend you
check out their website to find out more about
their activities and charter options.

Almouj Marina

Above & beyond

With state-of-the-art facilities, a
prestige location, excellent ecocredentials and even on-site
environmental experiments, Almouj
Marina goes way beyond a mere
berthing facility

Managed by Mourjan Marinas, Almouj

Marina is the world-class marine leisure centre
located in the prestigious Al Mouj Muscat, in
the picturesque Sultanate of Oman.
Weve been managing the marina here
for three-and-a-half years, since 2012, when
it first opened, explains Khalil AbuJaber,
Marina Manager.
The marina offers all the amenities youd
expect from a world-class marina, and the level
of service has led to Almouj Marina becoming
the go-to destination for visitors from other
countries in the GCC. We get a lot of visiting
yachts from other Gulf states, Qatar, and
the UAE, especially in the winter season,
explains Khalil. We work with agencies who
coordinate with all the relevant authorities in
terms of customs clearance. That is a service
we offer.
More than just a marina, Almouj Marina
also works in close partnership with both
government and private organisations on a
range of activities, all for the benefit of the
marine leisure sector as a whole.
This includes acting as a centre for SMEs,
a number of which are based there and
are providing activities for tourists and
Omans residents such as diving, fishing,
wakeboarding, and luxury yacht charter,
as well as jobs for Omans citizens. It also
includes hosting watersports events and
regattas, and working with local institutions
for marine research.
Its very good to see that the government
and the private sector are both working
together to enhance the marine tourism and
leisure sector in Oman, and to support local
SMEs, I think the setup works very well for
everybody, says Khalil.
In 2014, Almouj Marina was awarded the
International Clean Marina Accreditation by
the Marina Industries Association. This is a
highly prized award based on an extremely
tough and long list of criteria that ensure
clean waters and eco-friendly practices in and
around the marinas.
To give you an idea of how clean their water
is, the marina is working with the Ministry
of Agriculture and Fisheries in an innovative
and pioneering experiment involving the

Whilst meeting with Bryan and the

Oman Sail team for our feature earlier in this
issue, they very kindly offered to take us on
an excursion to the Dimaniyat Islands on
their flagship yacht, the stunning 44ft sailing
catamaran Orana. The Orana is part of the Sea
Oman charter fleet also operated by Oman
Sail, and crewed by highly capable and friendly
Omani skipper Abdullah and his crew.
It might seem a bit too hot for this kind of
thing in the Gulf at the moment. However, the
magic of Oman is that, unlike the rest of the
GCC whose waters are part of the Arabian
Gulf, the Sea of Omans currents are fed by the
cooler waters of the Indian Ocean, resulting
in lower temperatures in the water and cooler
breezes at sea. The water temperature seldom
rises above 30C, but is usually around 25,
meaning a cool dip in the water is always a
pleasure. Add to that the breeze coming off
the Indian Ocean, and you have the recipe for
a sublime ocean cruise even in the heat of the
Gulf summer.
As we left the marina, the crew hoisted
the sails and the wind picked us up. Theres
something about sailing as opposed to cruising
in a motor yacht all that can be heard are the
natural sounds of the wind and the waves, as
opposed to the persistent hum and vibration
of engines, and its a much more organic
experience. Its truly relaxing, and you begin
to understand why sailing aficionados scoff at
anything motorised. However, its easy for us
to say when someone else was doing all the
work
As we set sail, the crew deployed a couple
of fishing lines to trawl behind the boat, and
literally about ten minutes into the journey, we
make our first catch a decent-sized barracuda,
which Abdullah expertly hauls in and deposits
in the storage hold for a meal later on!

The Dimaniyat Islands

As we reach our destination, were absolutely

blown away. The Dimaniyat Islands are
renowned for their natural beauty, with white
sand beaches, beautiful reefs, abundant ocean
wildlife and some of the best diving sites the
world has to offer. They are part of a protected
marine reserve, and as such require official
permission to be visited. These can easily be
acquired from the Ministry of Tourism for a
fee, which goes towards the preservation of the
islands and the monitoring of tourism.
Hands on heart, we can honestly say that
we have NEVER seen water such a brilliant
shade of aquamarine before. It was absolutely
stunning! The abundant coral reefs were
clearly visible below the surface, so as the crew
dropped anchor we dived in for a snorkelling
session to take a closer look.

Remote,
pristine white

- the definition
of paradise for
many!

Later in the afternoon, a tender arrived to

drop us off on one of the pristine white sand
beaches for a while. It has to be said that once
you hit land, the heat rising off of the ground
really warms things up, and though the beach
looks inviting, it wasnt long before we were
retreating into the cool water again! Perhaps an
overnight beach camp might best be saved for
the cooler months
After a sublime afternoon, it was time to set
sail and return home, which was an equally
idyllic experience as the sun began to set over
the horizon.
This trip comes highly recommended,
especially as it can still be enjoyed in the
summer months, thanks to the cooler currents
from the open ocean. An unforgettable
experience!

for you once you arrive at the hotel. Snaking
through the dramatic mountains that tower
over Omans coastline, you catch glimpses
of the beautiful blue sea between the peaks,
until you pass suddenly through an imposing
gateway, and youve arrived.
Nestled in its very own cove on Omans
Bandar Jissah coastline and surrounded by
mountains, the resort complex spans three
separate hotels stretched along its own pristine
white sand private beach.
Al Waha is a dedicated family resort, and the
largest of the three hotels, with three pools
forming an oasis flanked by picturesque palm
trees. Al Bandar (which translates to the town)
is the five-star deluxe resort which serves as the
hotels focal point, with a wide selection of fine
dining restaurants and a souq area serving the
hotel as a whole.
Aside from the various pools, childrens
pools and play areas that serve these two, there
is a tranquil lazy river meandering along the
beachfront of both hotels.

resort is the Al Husn hotel, which represents
the pinnacle of luxury and exclusivity for the
resort, and which would be our haven for the
duration of our stay.

boats and yachts up to 25m long. Scuba diving,
dolphin watching, and snorkelling trips around
Omans beautiful Bandar Khayran coastline can
be arranged from the marina.
The hotel boasts seventeen different
venues across the three hotels, so it would
be impossible to see them all in one visit.
However, even if youre staying in Al Husn,
wed highly recommend that you wander down
to the main beach area in the late afternoon
to enjoy a sundowner at the B.A.B. Lounge, a
rooftop venue above the Bait Al Bahar seafood
restaurant located on the beachfront.
In the Al Bandar hotel there are a number
of restaurants to sample, as well as the stylish
Long Bar for post-dinner socialising.
The location of the Barr Al Jissah resort is
also ideal for sightseeing too, situated as it is a
short drive from the old town of Muscat, the
site of the Royal Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos,
as well as Mutrah Corniche, where youll find
Mutrah Souq, one of the finest examples of an
old Arabian market to be found in the Gulf.
Overall, a stay at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah

plenty to see and do, even if all you want to do
is relax in the hotels spectacular surroundings!

Can you tell us in your own words a little

about your background and what you do?

I started a career in banking, but soon realized

that my creative side was yearning for something
more. I then worked my way up to Account
Director for a major advertising and marketing
firm in London where creative, clever visuals
were part of the everyday job. I believed that
I could offer a better service than many of
the photographers we were working with and
from that point on, the transition to becoming
a photographer and filmmaker was fairly
straightforward. I now shoot advertisements,
exclusive events, high-end luxury weddings and
also enjoy shooting landscape and travel images
for magazines.
And what sparked your interest in
photography?

Ive always loved nature documentaries by

Sir David Attenborough, so between school
and university I decided to take a year out to
travel the world. I bought a good SLR camera
to document it all and read a great deal about
photography throughout that whole trip.
Fourteen years on I love photography more than
ever and this has carried over to filming in the
last five years as well.
82

Hadag Magazine

What did it take to build a successful career

in photography?

Hard work, dedication and persistence!

I would also say that its important to
constantly strive to refine your creative
instincts. Photographic style is like fashion
its ever evolving, so its important to ensure
that you always remain current and offer an
excellent service. Respect and understanding
are essential.
What has been the highlight of your career
so far?

I was asked to create a media team for

a campaign for Louis Vuitton in China
that covered photography and filming to
document an exclusive shopping spree
with twelve billionaires. The story of the
event made its way into the national press
in England! We also recently shot a big
celebrity wedding, which was great fun, and
Im looking forward to doing more of those
soon.
What advice would you give to young people
who would like to pursue a similar career?

Be prepared for hard work, and remember

that its not always as glamorous behind the

scenes as the final images might have you

believe.
What are your ambitions for the future?

Id like to take my work to a more

international level. I love the Middle
East, and I like working between fashion,
advertising and luxury weddings and events
it brings diversity and there is something to
be learned from working in each genre that
helps with the other, giving me a wider view
of what is possible and making me more
innovative.

How To cook it

Smoked
Salmon Roulade

Executive Chef Joergen Sodemann of the Al Bustan
Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel shares his delicious recipe for
his Smoked Salmon Roulade with Cream Cheese, and a
passion fruit jelly and citrus salad.

.

Directions:
Method:

Spread out the smoked salmon in strips

of 3 inches width and 5 inches length. Mix
together the chives and cream cheese, and
roll the mixture widthways into the smoked
salmon like a tube. Put in the freezer for one
hour. Mix together the passion fruit puree
and gelatine leaf and put in the refrigerator
for about 20 to 25 minutes to set.
Cut the lemon, lime and orange into pieces
and mix with the olive oil and pomegranate.

Plating:

Take out the smoked salmon half an hour

before serving, and cut into pieces as desired.
Take out the passion fruit jelly, and place
down the middle of the plate. Arrange the
salmon pieces alongside the jelly. Place the
citrus salad along the length of the jelly, and
garnish with mixed baby herbs.

Hadag Rides

So, what does the FF stand for? That would be Four-wheeldrive, and Four seats. The four-wheel-drive system is a masterpiece in
engineering, with the rear wheels providing most of the power, and the
front wheels kicking in only when needed through a second gearbox at
the front of the car.
Only when needed means in comfort or snow modes and only
between 1st and 4th gears. This essentially makes it safely driveable in all
weather conditions, whilst still behaving like a rear-wheel-drive car.
Maranello touts the FF as the most practical Ferrari ever, thanks to the
shooting-brake design, which allows for four very comfortable seats, with
plenty of legroom and headroom in the rear, and decent storage.
Theres room for four fitted pieces of luggage, some golf clubs, or, if
you fold the rear seats down, a mountain bike!
The interior of the FF is a glorious place to be, with a great driving
position, comfortable seats, leather padded surfaces everywhere you look,
and that unmistakeable Italian feel.
We loved the steering wheel, with the classic Ferrari array of knobs and
switches that make you feel like youre sitting in a racing car. For example,
there are the rev lights across the top of the wheel that climbs into the red
to let you know when to change gear.
Then theres the Ferrari manettino dial, which is the little red fun switch
that changes the cars chassis settings between Ice, Comfort, Sport, and
ESC Off.
The best thing about the FF, though, is that utterly beautiful 6.3l,
660hp, 683Nm naturally-aspirated V12. Power delivery is furious and
linear, with a soul-stirring Ferrari howl, and just doesnt stop. Itll hit
100km/h in 3.7 seconds, which admittedly isnt the fastest Ive ever
reached 100 before, but the amazing thing is how it will just keep
accelerating on from there. We didnt quite hit the 335km/h top speed,
but we werent too far off, and it will quite happily cruise at 180km/h
like its the simplest thing in the world!
Power is transferred to the road via the incredible seven-speed doubleclutch gear-box, with gear changes so fast theyre almost imperceptible to
the human brain. When combined, the engine, gearbox and transmission
create something that is truly unique in this world.
When considering the FF, the question should not be: Is this still a real
Ferrari? The question should be: For a comfortable and practical fourseater, four-wheel drive car, does it still feel like a Ferrari?
And the answer to that is, yes, it most certainly does!

The
Quadrofoil

Move over jetskis, because

something a lot more
sophisticated has come along!

.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the

Quadrofoil, the worlds first all-electric
hydrofoiling personal watercraft. The
Quadrofoils C-foil technology uses those
interesting looking blades under the hull to
create buoyancy force, which lifts the vessel
above the surface of the water, thereby
travelling with minimum water resistance.
A fun, and yet quiet and eco-friendly
watercraft, it creates no noise, no waves
and zero emissions, which enables it to ride
on lakes, rivers, seas and eco-zones where
speedboats and jetskis arent allowed. This
makes it suitable for the quiet canals of large
waterfront developments which dont allow
motorized watercraft.
However, like a jetski, its extremely simple

to use. Theres steering and throttle, and

the steering wheel has an integrated touch
screen display which keeps you informed
about battery power, range, speed and
consumption. It also functions as a
detachable key, without which the engine
cant be started.
The lightweight modular hull is built
from composite materials, delivers flawless
technical performance and at 100kg, it
makes handling the vessel easy, even for
one person. The hull is also very buoyant,
which means that even in a collision, it will
never sink. Despite this safety feature, the
craft also comes with two lifejackets built
into special compartments, for added peace
of mind.
The Quadrofoil is powered by industry
standard batteries with an integrated
battery management system, a long lifetime
and a range of up to 100km on a single
charge.
With a top speed of around 20 knots,
it isnt the fastest thing on the water, so
serious adrenaline junkies will still have to
go for their Kawasaki 300 Ultras. But for
everyone else who doesnt want to piss off
their neighbours and create havoc on the
water, the Quadrofoil is definitely the way
to go!

The

GoPro

HERO4
S e ss i o n

4
The latest version of the quintessential action capture camera is the smallest and
lightest ever offered by GoPro to date.
.

Offering many of the same features as the

best-selling HERO4 Black and Silver cameras, the
Session is nevertheless 50% smaller and 40% lighter
than its predecessors, making it even more portable
and convenient to use when taking part in your
sports activity of choice.
The HERO4 Session captures GoPro-quality
1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30 video along with
eight megapixel photos in Single, Burst and Time
Lapse modes, in addition to SuperView, Protune and
Auto Low Light recording modes.
The difference with the HERO4 Session is the
very minimal one-button design that both simplifies
operation and reduces size. A short press of the
shutter button quickly powers the camera on and
video recording begins automatically. A long press
of the shutter button powers the camera on and
triggers Time Lapse photo capture.
Then, when youre done with your session, press
the shutter button again to save video or photo

content and power the camera off. An expanded set

of controls and settings can be accessed when using
the GoPro App or Smart Remote.
The HERO4 Session is built to GoPros famous
rugged standards and is waterproof to 33ft (10m)
without the need for a separate waterproof housing.
It features a sleek frame mounting system that is
compatible with GoPros expansive array of mounts.
Whats more, an innovative dual microphone
system dynamically switches sound recording
between microphones to reduce wind noise during
activities, and audio performance during water-based
activities has been dramatically improved thanks to
a waterproof design that eliminates the need for
a separate water housing, which can often muffle
sounds.
The HERO4 Session will retail for AED 1,599
MSRP at authorized GoPro retailers across the
Middle East.

Vacheron Constantin Mcaniques Ajoures

This stunning timepiece from IWC Schaffhausen

boasts a double moon phase showing the state
of the moon in both the northern and southern

introduction of the railway-track-style chapter
ring typical of the Portugieser, which puts the
model closer in appearance to the classic original.

Created in 1957, the very first Seamaster 300 was

highly sought after, not only for its superb water
resistance, but also for its black dial, broad arrow
hour hand, uni-directional diving bezel, and
recessed triangular hour markers. Thats why this
new edition has kept those same distinguishing
features. From the inside.
