Science Publication Club Constitution and Bylaws

ARTICLE I: NAME & PURPOSE


Section A: Name Science Publication club
Section B: Purpose The purpose of this club shall be:
1. To promote the interests of the student body to learn more about specific branches of
scientific discoveries: Environmental Science, Marine Science, Physics, Chemistry and
Electrical Engineering.
2. To periodically build the projects together and help the members get hands-on experience
about the technology they are dealing with.
3. To nurture leadership and teamwork among the team members by conquering the
difficulties encountered along the way.
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP & DUES
Section A: Eligibility - Membership shall be open to anyone in the Stevenson community.
Section B: Active Membership The heads of the club will designate certain active members
to be the captain of their team, who will be in charge of reporting to the committee and the
heads of the club
ARTICLE III: OFFICERS
Section A: Officers The officers will be the heads of the club, the captains of each team
and active members.
Section B: Eligibility Officers must be students and ACTIVE members of the club.
Section C: Election The officers will be elected among the team captains and the club
members according to their performance on their experiment subject or the electrical project
that they have done.
Section D: Term The elected heads will be in charge of the position for one year.
However, if the officers cannot fulfil the need of the club members or failed to meet the moral
standards set by the club members, he or she can be switched to others who share great
interest in that position.
Section E: Vacancy The vacancy in any officer positions will cause a special election
among the members.
ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section A: Head it shall be the duty of the heads to:

Preside at meetings

Vote only in case of a tie

Represent the club in any official capacity

Coordinate all communication with school entities

Decide the publications of scientific articles on the blog and school newspaper
as well

Section B: Captains It shall be the duty of the Captains to:

Cooperate with the heads and the team that each of them is leading

Serve as an accountability officer

Report any problems that their team has encountered and are unable to solve

Take attendance and report to the heads

Section C: Active member It shall be the duty of the active member to:

Coordinate between the team members and the captains of each team.
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

Section A: Meetings would usually be held during either activities period and 6:15-7:00
between the sports and dinner. The location is currently to be determined and the specific
time will be announced prior on Edsby.
Section B: Special Meeting Special meetings may be called by the President with the
approval of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Section A: Responsibility Management of this club shall be vested in an Executive
Committee responsible to the entire membership to uphold these bylaws.
Section B: Membership This committee shall consists of the heads of this club and the
captains.
Section C: Meetings This committee shall meet at least once monthly to organize and
plan future activities.
ARTICLE VII: ADVISOR
Section A: Duties The responsibilities of the faculty advisor shall be to:
Maintain an awareness of the activities and programs sponsored by the
student club.

Meet on a regular basis with the leader of the student club to discuss upcoming
meetings, long range plans, goals, and problems of the club.

Attend regular meetings, executive board meetings as often as schedule


allows.

Assist in the orientation of new officers.

Explain and clarify campus policy and procedures that apply to the club.

Inform club members of those factors that constitute unacceptable behavior on


the part of the club members, and the possible consequence of said behaviors.

Provide technical help on a knowledge basis for the electrical engineering


project the students are conducting

ARTICLE IX: AMENDMENTS


Section A: Selection these bylaws may be amended by a one half majority vote of the
chapter membership.
Section B: Notice All members shall receive advance notice of the proposed amendment
at least five days before the meeting. [The time may be extended to the following meeting.]
