Around the World in One Quarter!

This webquest is designed for students who are learning


about countries and cultures around the world. The goal of
the webquest is to build cultural awareness in students. Being receptive to new cultures and
maintaining an attitude that all cultures are worthy of respect are the building blocks for
developing cultural awareness.

What students will do:
Investigate people, places and environments
Use internet resources to gather information about each country and culture that they
want to visit
Use written and visual language to communicate their thoughts, feelings and the
memorable moments in their travels
Demonstrate an understanding of the countries and people they visited by completing a
travel log and scrapbook

Student Requirements:
1. Visit each country on your itinerary (1 from each column, 6 total).
2. When you first arrive in a new country, you will create a hand-made postcard with a
colored drawing of the country's flag as your picture. Also fill in the name of the country
above the picture. In the written section of your postcard include the quick facts - the
country's capital, the language(s) and the currency. Also write a brief explanation of why
you chose to visit this country.
3. Using the references links below, complete the Country Facts, Journal Entries, Travel
Log and Languages worksheets.
4. Use the checklist to help you keep track of everything you must do for each of the
countries you visit.
5. Presentation: At the end of the quarter, you will choose one of the countries you have
done your research on and present the information to the class.
You will also create and present an art project of something you would find in your
country, for example you may make a Venetian mask for Italy. Be CREATIVE!
