Job Title: Business Entrepreneur
Job Description: As a Business Entrepreneur, one has the possession and claim to
a new company, idea, or product and assumes paramount responsibility and
leadership for both the day-to-day and long-term risks and outcomes. One of the
most acknowledged tasks performed by an Entrepreneur is their ability to find an
unfilled niche in a market and from there pioneer their business. An Entrepreneur's
job description ranges from overseeing daily procedures to planning the career of
the company and managing all those involved in the process.
Education, Training, and Certifications: While Entrepreneurs are not required to
obtain any certain license or level of education in order to pursue their career, often
times greater opportunities can be achieved with a formal education and prior
exposure to and understanding of business itself. Such training includes seeking out
business related majors or working with someone already in this profession to allow
for several years of hands-on experience. Also, many degree programs provide
internship opportunities, valuable contacts, and applicable knowledge.
College, Post-High School Programs and Recommended High School
Courses: Most entrepreneurs have achieved some form of prerequisite education;
either a High School diploma or a GED. As mentioned above, college experience is
not required for Entrepreneurial success but there are a number of degrees
designed to help produce and manage a company more efficiently. Most common is
a Bachelors Degree which entitles four years of college education. Entrepreneur's
can also obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration which provides

important insight on successful business ventures and broad concepts. This

program requires four years of study and includes courses in marketing, business
law, and financing. If an Entrepreneur chooses to further advance their education,
one may pursue a Master of Business Administration, which puts a greater focus on
Entrepreneurship and its levels of expertise. While none of these degrees are
required, they are all heavily recommended alongside internship experiences.
National and Local Professional Organizations: On a local scale, there are
many professional organizations in my area such as city organized Chambers of
Commerce, The Dallas Entrepreneur Center, Entrepreneurs Foundation for North
Texas, and countless more meetups and organizations involved in helping new and
growing companies thrive.

Local Organizations
CEO Netweavers
Creatives in Dallas
Dallas Blue
Dallas Entrepreneur Center
Dallas Makerspace
Dallas Internet Marketing and SEO Meetup
Entrepreneurs Foundation for North Texas
Entrepreneurs for North Texas
Bootstrap Dallas
North Texas SBDC

On a national scale, there are also many professional organizations available to

Entrepreneurs everywhere. Such organizations include The United States
Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), The Entrepreneur's
organization (EO, which has sects in many cities across America, including Dallas),
The National Business Association (NBA), and numerous more that provide in-person
seminars and online courses.
Salary: The average salary of an entrepreneur is almost impossible to gauge based
on the fact that every entrepreneur and their business is different, and every salary
is purely circumstantial to that specific market and business plan. According to
Sokanu, a company that specializes in career aptitude tests, successful startingEntrepreneurs in the United States earn on average $75,000 per year. Junior
Entrepreneurs earn $110,600 annually and experienced Entrepreneurs can earn up
to $171,600. These are all portraying potential incomes and do not take into
account financial problems when starting a business or rough financial years and
obstacles. The average Entrepreneur salary varies throughout the country, with
Texas earning about $185,900 yearly. Each Entrepreneur has the control over their
own salary depending on how they invest their time, energy, and money but is also
subjected to uncontrolled variables concerning their market.

Career Outlook: While success in never guaranteed in the career of

Entrepreneurship, the popularity of small businesses attribute to a large portion of
Americas economy. Surveys have shown that there are over 5.6 million small
businesses nationwide and the projected growth within the next 10 years is about
6%. There are many variables that play a major role in the success of a company,
including the demand for its product or service, which can all add to the increase or
decrease of this job outlook.
Analysis:
I have always admired the career of an Entrepreneur; someone who is
willing to step out into the world without a safety net. Entrepreneurs include those
with the courage to take risks without the hindering fear of failing, and the
perseverance to work for their goals even when faced with challenges. Before
becoming a part of ISM I had gained experience in Entrepreneurship through my
mother, who in many ways turned out to be one of the best mentors I could possibly
have. When she decided to manufacture and sell her own product she showed me
that being successful is not determined by the amount of money you make or the
number of people that know your name, it is determined by the trust you have in
yourself and your ability to make an impact somewhere in the World. Before
researching I knew little information about the specifics of this career, and through
this process have gained very valuable insight.
The first article referenced, concerning an Entrepreneur Salary, provided
exact records and predictions of income hourly, annually, and even specific to state
or level of expertise. It reaffirmed my knowledge that initially starting a business
poses many challenges, both financially and mentally, but with hard work can be
overcome. This article also shows graphs analyzing trends in salary for my specific
career.
The second article I researched explained all the different education, training,
and requirements recommended in order to be a successful entrepreneur. It gave
detailed descriptions of prerequisite requirements and opportunities in college and
in the work force. This article gave me a clear road map for paths that would lead
me to a more successful career backed by experience and training.
The third article listed was very helpful in not only my research, but will
continue to be beneficial in my ability to network. It provided an in depth list of local
and national organizations committed to business and Entrepreneurship. Through
these links I will be able to gain valuable contacts and current updates from a
variety of professional groups.

Entrepreneur Training Programs, Classes and

Courses Overview
Entrepreneurs are typically innovative business professionals who begin their own ventures.
Training requirements are diverse and vary from field to field; in general, entrepreneurs should
have a high school diploma or GED certificate, as well as a bachelor's degree in business

administration or entrepreneurship.

Essential Information
Entrepreneurs are business professionals who establish, manage, and maintain business
ventures, including corporations, nonprofit organizations, and sole proprietorships.
Entrepreneurs are responsible for many business duties, including hiring and firing employees,
accounting, marketing, and management. Before operating their own businesses, many
entrepreneurs seek employment with similar employers. With several years of business

experience, entrepreneurs gain the knowledge needed to successfully run a business. Many
business degree programs provide invaluable internship opportunities, where future
entrepreneurs gain practical business knowledge, valuable contacts, and hands-on experience.

Program Levels: Bachelor's degree.

Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED.
Program Length: Four years.
Other Requirements: Internships may be required or strongly recommended.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

A bachelor's degree program in business administration and entrepreneurship teaches students
how to establish, manage, and oversee successful business ventures. Students learn broad
business concepts, including financial management, business promotion, and business
ownership legalities. Programs require four years of study and typically include courses on:

Financial accounting
Marketing and promotion
Business laws and regulations
Management principles
Organizational behavior
Macro and microeconomics

Popular Career Options

There are no standard job experience requirements for entrepreneurs. Most entrepreneurs obtain
several years of experience in an industry of interest and use that experience to gain business
knowledge and establish a platform for their own business entity. Entrepreneurs who seek
financial investors or capital loans are typically required to display business proficiency to
potential lending sources; therefore, experience can lead to greater access to professional and
financial resources and better overall success.

Continuing Education Information

Entrepreneurs are not required to be licensed or certified. Instead, career opportunities for
entrepreneurs depend on formal education, business experience and presentation of business
concepts. Entrepreneurs may seek industry-relevant certifications that demonstrate proficiency in
specialized areas of business, such as computer programming or quality assurance.
Several large organizations offer workshops, conferences, and training seminars to
entrepreneurs. The United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE)

holds a conference for small business owners and entrepreneurs each year. Conferences last four
days and include guest speakers, individual business seminars, and networking opportunities.
The Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), which includes more than 7,000 business owners, holds
industry events around the world. The organization has members in 42 countries and holds
events every few months. For business owners who cannot attend conferences in person, the EO
offers online seminars with useful information on entrepreneurship.
To improve management abilities and advancement opportunities, entrepreneurs can pursue a
Master of Business Administration (MBA). Many MBA programs offer emphases in
entrepreneurship or management while providing information on other aspects of business
operation, such as marketing, human resources, and project management.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides numerous development resources for
entrepreneurs, including financial and legal aids, a small business planner, online training
opportunities, and a library of legal, business, and financial publications. The SBA offers statistics
and research studies that can improve the efficiency, success, and financial longevity of
entrepreneurs. The organization also offers an online newsletter for updates and administrative
changes to small business regulations.
