Plagiarism

Plagiarism is when someone of any age copies someone else's work, and calls it
their own. It is considered a federal offense, and you could be sent to jail. Plagiarism is a
problem in many schools, because the kids and teens copy peoples work and give it to the
teacher. The students dont know that there are consequences for plagiarising. They never knew
what they did wrong.
When you cite your sources on an essay, you must have the authors name, where
you got the information, and when that information was published. There are a few different
ways to do that. For example: Professor VeryBald asserts Quatchi is a wonderful pet for
Mr.Bretz. (VeryBald 2016,15) This is an abbreviated citation. It may have some problems
because it might affect how well your story reads through.
If you plagiarize there will be consequences. As an example, if you go to the
University of Washington: You could get off with a warning, but if you do it a lot, you could be
expelled. Another example, Mountlake Terrace High School: You will lose all credit for that
assignment/test, and you will receive discipline. So by now you can probably tell that if you
plagiarize, you will be in very harsh trouble. Especially at Brighton.

A bibliography is at the end of your essay. That is where you say what sites you
used to get your information for your essay. Example:https://www.weebly.com/home/.
https://sites.google.com/site/dancepartnersearch2005/. That is how you do a bibliography for
your work. A bibliography is used/needed so that teachers can see if you plagiarized. It is also
used so the teachers can see if your information that you wrote is valid/true.
I think that avoiding plagiarism is important because it will help you in the future.
Once you graduate from college, you could go to jail for plagiarizing. It is also good because you
learn more by looking for all the dates and where the info is from.

Fun fact: Plagiarism comes

from the latin word kidnapper!!!
