RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS +ARCHDIOCESE OF LOS ANGELES + FEBRUARY 11-13,

1977

IN APPRECIATION ...
.. to the hundreds of dedicated
women and men who lend their
hands and hearts and thousands
of volunteer working hours both before and during Congress to help make this event
a success ...
AND

IN REMEMBRANCE ...
... To Felix and Dorothy Giroux,
two volunteers who truly knew
the meaning of following Christ.
They spent myriads of hours
at many tasks, but especially
processing Congress registration
forms - a job they perfected.
Their inner joy and Christian love
spread to all who knew them.
Both Dorothy and Felix died
this past year.
We salute them, love them,
and miss them.
But we know they are with us in spirit.
May their rewards in heaven be great,
for their devotion to God's work
here on earth.

STREET

February 11th, 1977

Dear friends:
The annual Religious Education Congress is an
event dear to the heart.
It is a time of spiritual significance: laity
and priests and religious - the Church itself - coming together to share in learning pro~esses, more fervent prayer
experiences, and that indescribable inner peace and joy
wherein we are called to dwell by the Spirit of the Lord.
It is an all too brief three days in which to
refresh the soul before returning to our homes, our offices,
our classrooms.
It is a moment of time, focusing on a love so
great that we are awed by its beauty and humbled by its
message.
It is a time when dedicated people renew their
determination to pursue Jesus' command, "COME, FOLLOW ME".
Our congratulations and prayerful blessings to
all those whose work has made this Congress possible, and
to all the delegates who attend.

Devotedly in Christ,

Timothy Cardinal Manning

Se.bM;t,i.a.n Te.mpte.
VERSE 1 - Choir only.
VERSE 2 - Choir and Congregation:
2. Take my hands, they speak now for my heart,
And by their actions they will show your love.
Guard them on their daily course;
Be their strength and guiding force
To ever serve the Trinity above.
VERSE 3 - Choir and Congregation:
3. Take my hands, I give them to you, Lord;
Prepare them for the service of your name.
Open them to human need,
And by their love they'll sow your seed,
So all may know the love and hope you gave.

Instrumental
VERSE 1 - repeated by Choir and Congregation.
1. Take my hands and make them as your own,
And use them for the kingdom here on earth.
Consecrate them to your care,
Anoint them for your service where
You may need your gospel to be sown.

HOSEA

Weston Priory
Gregory Norbet~ O.S.B.

Come back to me with all your heart.

Don't let fear keep us apart.
Trees do bend, though straight and tall;
So must we to others' call.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.
The wilderness will lead you to your heart
Where I will speak integrity and justice
With tenderness you shall know.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.
You shall sleep secure with peace;
Faithfulness will be your joy.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me
and living deeply our new life.

AND I WILL FOLLOW

Worods and Music

by Ray Repp
REFRAIN:
The Lord is my true shepherd;
No want nor fear I know;
He leads me by safe paths,
And I will follow.
VERSES:
1. Fresh and green are the pastures where my new
home will be;
The waters will be clean and clear:
that's where he leads me.
Through dark and lonely days, when hope
seems gone,
He leads me to the place where peace is won.
Yes, the ...
2. A banquet will be ready when I come home to
stay;
My family will gather round on that great
day.
Good and kindness will follow me for the rest
of my days.
I'll live in the house of the Lord; Oh grant
that I may.

DAY BY DAY

Stephen Schwartz
Day by day, day by day,
0 dear Lord, three things I pray:
To see thee more clearly,
Love thee more dearly,
Follow thee more nearly
