SATURDAY: Philippians 1:3-11 Prayer

A prayer for love and knowledge. These two together lead to making godly
choices. Paul prays this for the church; he could have prayed what he wanted
them to do and think.
ACTION: In light of Pauls prayer for the church, offer up your own prayer now.

FRIDAY: Philippians 1:3-11 Partnership

Paul and the Church. Pastor and Laity. This partnership in ministry is critical
to the churchs life and vitality. Moreover, Pauls perspective of the church is
loving and hopeful as he acknowledges that God will complete what He began
in them.
CONSIDER: What is one way you can be in partnership with clergy? What work
has God started in you? Share that with another person this week.

THURSDAY: Philippians 1:3-11 Thanks

Paul thanks God for the people in prayer. For whom do you give thanks?
PRAYER: I thank my God every time I remember ____________.

WEDNESDAY: Ephesians 4:25-32 Hurt & helpful

Its been said those who hurt, hurt. A common way of hurting others is with
our words. Scripture says also that out of the abundance of the heart, the
mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). Where does your heart hurt?
PRAYER: Jesus, my heart hurts. Like salve, pour over me and start me on the
path of healing, whether through conversation, therapy, prayer, friendship. I
desire to be helpful in my speech and whole of my heart.

TUESDAY: Ephesians 4:25-32 Steal & work

To steal often is thought of the taking of property. But what if we expanded it
to include peoples ideas, energy, time, kindness. Instead of taking these from
others, how might you create your own? And in so doing, bless someone else?
PRAYER: I never thought of myself as a thief. Reveal to me, Lord, any ways
that I am stealing from another. Forgive me, I pray.

MONDAY: Ephesians 4:25-32 False & truth

A call to be truthful in speech instead of false. I imagine many of the ways we
engage in false speak is by no speak.
CONSIDER: Is there a person with whom you have avoided speaking for fear
of telling them the truth? The truth of your feelings? The truth of details to
an event? Simply speak their name and practice aloud what you would say.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those
who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed
for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling
and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one
another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your
neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not sin: Do
not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a
foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing
something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share
with those in need.
