The Locally Developed Physical Education course promotes physical activity in a fun,
safe, social environment. This course will cater to the individual needs of the students so
that everyone will be able to participate to the best of their abilities. Our goal is to
stimulate mental, intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth through many forms
of physical activity. In addition, social skills such as; cooperation, sportsmanship, and
self-discipline will be encouraged. Fundamental physical skills will be worked on to
maintain and improve flexibility, eye-hand coordination, core development, muscular
strength and endurance. Students will be in a safe environment where there will typically
be one or two classroom teachers, one to three Certified Education Assistants and PeerTutors. We hope that this class will generate a sense of community/belonging and desire
for our students to continue to participate in physical activity even when they are not at
KSS.
This September, we will try a new way to timetable LD PE. Students will take LD PE
