SECTION A

(CASE STUDY IS COMPULSORY)

There was a lot of confusion in the admin block. Clark was very depressed. He wanted the
information about the completed projects. It was already late. Peter had asked for the accounts
receivables. The finance department needed the list of follow up. Susan had mailed regarding new
product updates and how to customize it and the admin was having trouble with employee payment
and bonus.

As the COO of the ABC Lifts, Clark had seen the company grow from scratch to a two crores
turnover. Things went smooth till the last quarter. But now with increased volume of business,
separate installation, service departments, govt. regulations, licensing, service and customer care, he
just could not get the information on time. Different personnel had different data. The consultant he
hired to provide solution had been insisting on developing systems to take care of the functions.
This meant investment and consent from the founder.

There was another issue. The infrastructure to be hired, hosted or bought? He had to meet with the
heads and make a start. May be a paperless office would solve his problem? He wanted to
immediately stop the running around!

Questions:

Q1. What are the steps Clark has to take to design the system? Explain with reference to SDLC.

Q2. Can you immediately suggest certain systems that would help on reading the case?
