Market Dynamics
Big Data Driving Growth and Change
25% of Big Data comes from
Financial Industry.
Wal-Mart collects 2.5
petabytes every hour.
5 Exabytes is created every 2
days which equals amount
from the dawn of civilization
to 2003
Network loads expect to double or triple in the next two years requiring more
bandwidth, security measures and more effective monitoring solutions

Monitoring Data
Challenges in security and tool capacity
Data and traffic growth outpacing
capacity of tools
Duplicate packets create false
positives, or break tools
Many tools only analyze packet
headers overloaded by traffic
Sensitive and confidential information
must be removed and secured
Storage and record keeping being
maxed out

Packet Slicing Use Case

Security and Confidentiality
Slice at the source to increase tool
capacity

Occurs at the point of traffic capture,

instead of at each analytical tool.

Ensure uniform and consistent packet

slicing

Many tools only need the header info

Greater Security

Remove end-user identifying

information to eliminate risk of a
privacy breach.

Maintain compliance with regulations

INTELLAFLEX Multi Function Blade

Time Stamping Packet
As each packet traverses the port, the exact time of the first frame is noted, and an
8-byte time stamp is applied between the packet payload and the closing checksum
(CRC). The checksum is updated to reflect the new data
